Had one day to see the whales. Problem was it was not the weekend. Forecast was for 10 mph wind. Recieved a phone call, a mere few hours before the trip saying conditions are deteriorating and cancelled. Winds dropped to 5 mph. Obvious they didn't think they had enough people to pay for trip. Left us high and dry. Go... More

My wife and I decided to spend a day as tourists in Portland. We live close by. Neither of us had ever been in a whale watching cruise so I had no idea what we would see. The good news is that it was a wonderful sunny day on the water and we did see a few minke whales about... More

No Whales! They did give us a free ticket for another visit if we come back within a year. Not very likely to do so since I'm 8 hours away. Of course it's understandable that we weren't able to see whales. Not the kind of thing you could guarantee.

Very professional team and super keen to deliver. The gentleman that gives the commentary is knowledgeable and keeps a good balance of keeping you entertained without droning on for hours. Do make sure you take a thick sweater or jacket of sorts, especially for the morning run. Take some sunscreen too because it can switch from chilly and cloudy to... More

Crew very nice. No offense to the people working at odyssey, except that they sell fishing tours when there are no fish to catch!!!!! We were told we would each catch "several" fish. Spent $175 to take family of 5 mackerel fishing and my 1 son caught ONE 4 inch whiting in 2 hrs of fishing. I think about 4... More

My family and I took the whale watching tour first thing in the morning. On the way out to see the captain gave us a lesson on what we were seeing around the bay. This I feel like added to the trip. Once out of the bay we saw harbor seals and some harbor porpoise. Very cool to see. We... More

An 11 year old got her birthday wish. The crew was wonderful. They took time to explain why they choose the destination and did their best to get us as close to the whales as possible.

not the fault of odyssey, but we didn't see any whales. saw a porpoise, a seal and a basking sun fish but little else. left in a thick fog, which finally cleared once we reached the ledges. whales just didn't cooperate. we did receive a voucher for another free cruise.

Let's start with this: real life is not The Discovery Channel and marine mammals, fish, seals and so forth are not contractually bound to show up on schedule. We saw plenty of seals yesterday during a lighthouse cruise (a tour which I highly recommend, by the way). On this four-hour trip, even those seals were AWOL. We have been told... More

Take this trip at the beginning of your stay, because if you don't see any whales they will stamp your boarding pass to allow you another trip free of charge anytime within the next year. We went twice without seeing a whale, so have another trip available if we get back to Maine within a year. They say they have... More
