Great little brewery tour. They provide headsets so you can hear over the machinery. Lots of beer tasting and cool items for sale. I highly recommend it.

Full disclosure: I am writing a book about New England craft breweries and brewpubs and I visited Allagash to interview its owner/brewer Rob Tod. I know Rob from my last book, but it's been at least 15 years since I've seen him. My husband and I had never done the Allagash tour, so I combined my interview with Rob with... More

We went to the brewery for a tasting only as the tours were full (book early if you want a tour on a Saturday!). We sat at the bar, and sampler boards of 4 beers were brought out with a tasting card describing each beer. There was no rush, so it was a comfortable time chatting and tasting beer. Great... More

This was a great brewery tour with everything you'd want. It's a little outside of downtown, so nice and easy (and free) parking. The brewery is big (constantly expanding), the drinking area/store is nice, the outside is spacious and fun, and everything feels very professional and great. You can reserve your spot online in advance so there are no surprises.... More

This was the perfect place to visit on a rainy afternoon (actually anytime). I enjoyed the tour. The guide was terrific and amusing. We saw how the beer was made and were given explanations about how it was made and what made the beer special. The 4 tastings were generous and good! I'd highly recommend this tour.

Allagash Brewery is about 20 minutes out of Portland downtown. The cab trip was $20 each way. If you had a car, it is off I-95 and would be easy to access. You need to book your tour of the brewery at least a month in advance on the Allagash website if you are going in the summer. The tours... More

Came here from Chicago looking for some of my favorite beer. I drank that beer. And I was happy. Then i drank more, and I became sadder and sadder, because that's what beer does to you. I left with beer in my stomach and in my trunk and it was good.

Allagash makes great beer...no doubt about it. They specialize in the Belegian style but also collaborate and experiment with other traditional and non-traditional flavors. The FREE brewery tour (reserve in advance for those busy weekends) is informative, fun, and offers a tastings of some decent beers. The Store is moderately priced and has some decent, quality items. Tip: Visit Bissel... More

While staying in Portland we drove here to the Allagash brewery. We were right on time for a tour but decided to skip it and just do the tasting. We sat at their bar and got a flight with four samples to try. My favorite is the white. It's free which is great.

We have been to many large and small breweries. This ranks near the top for both the beer and the tour. This is a very worthwhile stop but don't just go for the tasting in the main room. If you go on their tour you do the tasting in the brewery and even thought we have been on many we... More
