Went to see Bill Maher last week and had a wonderful time. We got our tickets on line and their was a short wait at the pick up window, crowd was in great spirits (it is wonderful to be in a large group of lefties) and the show lived up to its promise although it did get started a bit... More

The hall is beautifully restored, with great acoustics and lighting. Its under 2000 seats and feels even more intimate than that size would suggest. We prefer it to many similar facilities in the Boston area.

We attended PORTopera's performance of Rigoletto. Great production and a great venue. The only drawback is the rack of the floor is so shallow that my 5'-1" wife has a very hard time seeing the performance if someone tall sits in front of her.

My wife and I have seen two artists at this venue. Both shows were amazing. The first artist we saw was Nancy Griffith. This was our second time seeing her perform. The second artist we saw here was Peter Frampton. Both shows were great and the acoustics were amazing. We can't wait to see another show at this amazing venue!

We saw the Pilobolus Dance company while in town on a short vacation. The Merrill is a beautiful old theater with great sight lines and reasonably comfy seats, given its age. It seemed to be clean and well maintained.

I go to Merrill for countless events: symphonies, Ovations events, and occasionally other things. I've sat almost everywhere, but try not to sit at the very top because I find it scary. If you go, be sure to try one of their freshly baked chocolate chip cookies : > )

We went to see Man of La Mancha in this historic large auditorium not too long ago. The actors were sensitively miked, but could still be heard. Because of Merrill's construction there are no bad sight lines, although the orchestra off the floor may, because it is on the level of the stage, be superior. If you come to Portland... More

The Merrill Auditorium is the venue to many types of musical and other entertainment. The venue has been updated over the years and is well worth the visit. We usually sit in the upper balcony where folks of all ages enjoy seating, but be careful of the steep pitch of the staircase. Good visualization of the stage from most seats.
