Charming brick sidewalks and building curb appeal expresses itself best at the Old Port Exchange. One of the best models of urban revitalization, Old Port Exchange's mix of 19th century architecture bring a vibrant arts and entertainment, shopping and dining scene to what is now considered the "heart of Portland." The ultimate anti-cookie cutter shopping district, Old Port Exchange thrives... More

The Old Port in Portland is a fun place to visit. There are plenty of shops, good restaurants, and fun places to have a few drinks. Plenty to do and have a good time.

The Old Port district is a wonderful place to walk around on a sunny afternoon to visit any number of boutique stores and art galleries, or a destination spot for an evening dinner or 'apps and drinks' outing with co-workers. The area was renovated back in the late-70s and early-80s and became a destination spot for locals and visitors alike.... More

The old port has the anticipated complement of smart restaurants and shops, but one does not have to look far to see the busy ferry traffic, fisherman coming and going, and generally hard working Mainers. Walk about a mile along Commercial St. and out onto one or more of the piers to get a flavor for this life. I like... More

It's a commercial fishing port with lots of charm amidst the usual fisherman's bric a brac. There is a fantastic fish market down there and great clam chowder restaurants.

Old Port has such a homey feel. One can wander around the area to shop in a variety of businesses, visit numerous attractions, eat in quaint and/or well-known establishments, stroll along the waterfront or its many streets, and so much more. Parking can be a real hassle though so it's best to find a parking garage. Sometimes one has the... More

Lovely old area with plenty of bars and restaurants, a nice waterfront with paths to walk along and great visitor centre. Only slight negative is that there seemed to be a lot of vagrants round the area, more than we saw in New York but generally felt a safe area.

Walking in Old Port makes me feel connected to America's history. Walk up any street from Commercial (the harbor side) and the small shops, narrow streets and narrower alleys instantly speak of those who came before us. There are still cobblestone streets and restaurants and shops that are upstairs or downstairs. The streets are windy and sometimes a little oddly... More

Old Port is a great area to visit on a sunny day to shop and watch the water. We did not experience the nightlife, but I suspect that it's a relatively young scene. If you are in Portland, it's worth a stop!

This area is huge and has something for everyone! The shops are all very nice and the employees were friendly. Very cool area to walk around.
