My friend and I booked the trolley and the boat tour of Portland. Far and away-JJ is the man for the trolley tour! The boat was scenic and quasi informative. I don't blame the boat's tour guide, the day we went it was cccooold! I don't think I could have paid attention if I wanted to! Which leads me back... More

If you like wandering in and out of little shops and exploring, a trip to Old Port might be just the thing. Just 2 hours from Boston and worth the drive. Plenty of shops and good eats. Also check out a few lighthouses while you're there. Great trip!

There are so many great restaurants in the Old Port. It's a fun area to just walk around. Really neat architecture too! Lots of art in this area as well.

I haven't been here in over 20years. It is completely different now. There are tons of shops. A lot are pretty unique, Great restaurant of all different kinds of food. Love that the streets surronding this area are all restored buildings and cobblestone walkway. You can feel and see all the history around you. Just a fun place to hang... More

The Salt store was the most interesting. Lots of infused salt, facial and hand creams, etc.International shops, expensive clothing, small independent stores.

Also the best price for twin lobsters was at Giffords Chowder House. Half the price of Boones and DeMillios (also half the atmosphere) but we just wanted good fresh lobstah!

I live in North Conway, and this is a road trip that my friends and I take 3 to 5 times a year. The old port is quaint, beautiful, well-maintained, it has many attractions as well as superb seafood. We spend the entire day and evening wandering through a child, going to the specialty shops and picking up items that... More

Though I live in Portland, i rarely visit the Old Port unless its to take friends there in the summer and at the holiday time. When i do go, I always marvel at how nice this area looks since I was a child - vast improvements everywhere. I used to drive down the cobblestone Commercial street with its railraod track... More

Beautiful little city....fun to walk around and view the shops and restaurants. There are all kinds of artisan shops as well as household/wares. Look for the bakeries and other specialty shops. Watch the boats come in and out of port in the nicer seasons and during the summer many cruise ships are visible. Portland itself has a lovely symphony and... More

Check out Exchange St,, Wharf St., Commercial St. Shop, eat, listen to street musicians, walk. From the Eastern end of Commercial St. you can start walking along the water toward Eastern Promenade. Lovely! I live an hour from Portland, but go to the city twice a week, because I like to hang out there, go have a drink, meet friends,... More
