Another lighthouse

We got hooked on visiting lighthouses. Owl's Head was a treat. It was worth the climb to get to. Plenty of parking.

Here is an easy place to access an 1852 Light House that is still in operation. Short walk to the Coast Guard Station and Light House is accessed by a short easy stair climb to get in the actual light platform.

Parking is free- driveway is bumpy- The Owls Head Lighthouse is the main attraction and is my favorite in Maine- You will have to climb many stairs to get to the Lighthouse. The views are spectacular. They also have a beach, mostly rocky but still a blast. They do have facilities, I mean the standard rustic ones. No plumbing here! They... More

Light house and a small beach. Light house open on the weekends. Staffed by volunteers. Bring a dollar to put in their donation jar. Light still uses lens from the 1800's.

This is a beautiful spot on the ocean, but the stairs are difficult if you have knee problems. Only the first part of the climb would be good for a wheelchair, plus it is a good distance down a dirt road from your car. I would recommend it for younger people or people in excellent health. A lot of hikers.... More

We were here in terrible weather, so there was really no view. It was nice to go right up to the light, but it is a very modest light.

This is a great little State Park -- a grassy area along the cliff so you can picnic and watch the boats out on the ocean...on the other side is a rocky beach area, with more picnic spots. And don't forget to take a walk out to the Lighthouse, where you can climb steep stairs to the top for a... More

A great destination on a day ride from Rockland. The view from the lighthouse is spectacular. Go see the water from the lighthouse and then ride the ferry or get out on another boat and see it from the water.

Apart from the obvious attraction of the Lighthouse there is so much more to see in this park. You can relax at one of the picnic tables on the grassy area next to the car park or have a wander around the pebbly beach looking for shells and driftwood and playing in the rock pools or you can go for...
