Apart from the obvious attraction of the Lighthouse there is so much more to see in this park. You can relax at one of the picnic tables on the grassy area next to the car park or have a wander around the pebbly beach looking for shells and driftwood and playing in the rock pools or you can go for... We were driving up the coast to Bar Harbor and spent the night at The Craignair Inn in Spruce Head. On a whim we turned off to visit Owl's Head State Park and Lighthouse. Beautiful views, cool lighthouse and "beach" - well worth a side excursion.

If you can't get great images at this lighthouse you should have your camera confiscated! Wonderful setting minutes from Rockland. Well worth the bike ride or drive. Nice little museum nearby.

Nice short hike to lighthouse with gorgeous views. The day we went we even got to go up in the lighthouse.

The short 3-minute hike to the lighthouse from parking provides sweeping views of the nearby channels and islands. The whole setting is just amazing. However, the lighthouse is quite small. There was a lineup when I visited and I did not bother getting in.

Nice views of the shore on a clear day. You should expect a little bit of an uphill walk to get there, plus the stairs up to the lighthouse itself. The volunteer was letting people inside, but there was a line building on the stairs when I arrived (around 11:15 on a Sunday morning). I decided not to go in.... More

There are very nice views of the water here, and the lighthouse itself is very nice. You can climb up right to it and walk around it. The problem I had was that the only places to get a good view of the lighthouse were on the steps leading up to it, which aren't wide and thus not a good... More

We happened to visit while there were volunteers available and were able to go up into the lighthouse. Great little museum staffed by volunteers with photos of the area and historical pics of the light house and coast guard station. Has the original lens on this light---a bit of a hike up the stairs (not handicap accessible) and a small... More

My wife & I stopped by just expecting to see the lighthouse, but were pleasantly surprised to find that American Lighthouse Foundation volunteers were there opening a new interpretive exhibit & giftshop. Very nice. The fog kept us from seeing the view of Rockland Harbor, but created an appropriate setting, especially with the foghorn sounding!

I spent several hours here photographing the boats passing by, the wildlife and the lighthouse. The views from the top of the lighthouse are stunning!!
