Well .....found out the hard way that once you pay for a particular site doesn't mean it's yours!............We paid for a prime ocean front site (after Labor Day) and by the time we got back to that site someone else who had paid for a different campsite was on it !.....After going back to registration and complaining ....they said "It... the views are amazing! however the trash barrels, bathrooms and sites are dirty and unattended. i would never go on season because of the price and off season prices are up $ince last year. discouraging because the island is a gem! with the prices they charge and get, they need to improve clean up!

The views, trails and beaches on Hermit Island are great and these are the main attractions of this seaside campground. However the poor facilities are what ruined it for us. Our site was private however we needed to clean it up before we set up our tent and dinning fly. Our site(7 Cross Island) was close to the pit toilets... More

As my wife and I were traveling along Rt 1 desperate for a quiet place a stay, we came across Hermit Island Campground and checked it out. We fell in love immediately! Our campsite was secluded and quiet. The main beach was a 2min walk and other private beaches were easy to get to. The rules on the island are... More

As a family we all look foreword to this tranquil place. I see people even though they have been visiting year after year complain about being told that no radios are allowed. When there are rules and all abide by them it allowed all to enjoy what hermit island is all about. If being loud and a party atmosphere is... More

This campground has so much going for it. Beautiful island, beautiful beaches, the Kelp Shed is fun and the ice cream is yummy. BUT for the amount we paid for a "value campsite" what we got was not a value at all. $40 was the most we have ever paid for a camp site. We were 3 adult women and... More

I have been coming to this campground for years, in fact our group has a fourth generation now taking part (ages 1 and 3). We are a large group of a mix of family and friends who have made this place an annual trip, end of June. We are always in the same area every year. Over the course of... More

What a great place to camp,I don't mean in a wheeled resort, but real camping. The place is just beautiful. The rule is listen to music on headphones makes it great for other campers. This is a place to enjoy nature. The camp store is well stocked and staff is very friendly and helpful. The toilets are kept clean. The campground doesn't need any... More

By going to the campground in late May, before the regular season, we avoided the crowds and had our pick of beautiful sites. Camping here is basic--no electricity, many bathrooms are without running water, no cell-phone signal (for us, anyway). They don't take anything but cash in the pre-season. The roads are really bad, but once you get settled in,... More

If you expect amazing staff maitenance and supreme conditions, camping isn't for you...part of the beauty of Hermit Island is living WITHOUT all of the comforts of a hotel. My family has been camping at Hermit Island for over 45 years, and we love savor every spartan moment that we spend there.
