One of the best beaches in Maine

Great fort, great beach! When the tide goes out you can walk out to a small island. You can spend the whole day here. Parking at the fort is very limited!

When I walked out past the bath house/restroom building, I couldn't believe my eyes. The beach stretched out forever it seemed. At the opposite end where the coastline started there was a huge rock island, and headed that way over a sand bar to get to it. From there we could see several other islands out in the water. From... Spent a day here a few weeks ago. This is a beautiful beach and park, well worth thr trip or to visit if you are in the area. At low tide the beach was enormous with nice sand and views. One of the nicest beaches we have been to in New England. The grounds are well maintained with very clean... More

This is a great Maine Park with a beautiful beach! When we were there some people were building sand castles, some sunning themselves, some surfing, some just walking the beach, some fishing. There is something for every beach lover! The restrooms are clean and there are showers, both inside and outside for washing sand off your feet. There is also... More

I have never been to this beach before until the other day and I was expecting it to be the same as Old Orchard. So I was pleasantly surprised when it was so much bigger and so gorgeous. The tide was low and we could walk to a small island and to the top. It was a wonderful walk along... More

I grew up in Maine and am familiar with the southern beaches, like Scarborough, Higgins, etc. While Scarborough beach was my favorite as a kid, as an adult Popham is far and away my favorite beach. Be sure to go a low tide and you can walk for two hours. Whether it's foggy or sunny, it's a beautiful, restorative spot.... More

When my wife and I moved to Maine, we were disappointed that some beaches, such as Old Orchard, were closer to southern style beaches like you would find in Virginia and North Carolina, than they were to New England style beaches like what you would find in Cape Cod. Not so with Popham Beach. Popham Beach is New England style... More

Really neat fort and park to see. We spent quite a while there. The restrooms are outhouses and they were stinky. The kids went all the way to the top of the fort and said it was great. NIce quiet beach with great scenery. Some of the houses across the water are beautiful.

This place is a perfect place to spend a day with your family. This was my first visit to the beach park. Was a long drive from Boston but was worth the trip. A long and lazy walk on the beach with a great view.
