Clean, not too crowded. The water was warmer than I would have expected. Very gentle waves with no unexpected undertow or riptides. Great family beach. Tide swing is very big, so there is a lot of smooth, wet sand to play in as the afternoon wears on. We arrived right after lunch and took a spot pretty close to the... More

I had not been to OOB for many many years. Even 20 years ago it was run down (hotels, food and attractions), and unfortunately, it continues to look much more run down. Sad really, because the beach itself is spectacular. I can see why many families continue to flock to this place. It has everything in one place with family... More

The beach was very well kept up, loved to walk on it in the dark to see the lights shining from the pier.

The beach is beautiful. The water is clean. The people are mostly friendly. But wow, don't expect anything "nice" here. This is down market Maine, not to be confused with DownEast. Maine is a foody haven but not here. Fried everything, that's all there is. Keep your expectations very, very low and this is a great place.

We are so happy to have discovered Old Orchard Beach and the coast of Maine, in general, as we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks there in Aug 2014. The beach and the surrounding area are so fun for all ages.....and it was so packed with people ......I thought that might be a downside...but the summer is the beach and the... More

The beach was so much fun. The kids were able to body surf and my husband spent over an hour in the water jumping the waves (at least 15 feet high) from the storm the night before.

This beach is a little further down from the main Old Orchard Beach and a nice smaller area. The parking lot is adequate and only $10 for the day. The beach has a nice sand bar that kids love when it is low tide. There is also a nice rock jetty further down the beach shore line. Snack bar, bathrooms... More

This is a huge beach with lots of sand. Much nicer than I expected. Waves were big enough to please my kids but not so huge as to be worrisome for parents. Lots of hotels very close to the beach.

We stayed at the Royal Anchor Resort (203 East Grand Avenue) and the beach was amazing. The sand is so soft. The sand near the water is smooth and there aren't any rocks/shells to step on. Just enough for the kids to pick some up, but truly the best beach in Maine I've experienced. (I haven't been to many, but... More
