This compact and well designed garden and cottage from the late 19th century is well worth a visit even for those who are not gardeners. For gardeners there are enough interesting combinations that make the beds look as if they just happened without looking chaotic. It is small enough that it will not tax the attention span of young children.... More

We hiked up and it is a beautiful view of the harbor. This really is a little treasure provided by Mr Curtis and Mr Savage. I wish I could remember the woman's name at the lodge because she gave a wonderful and insightful talk. The lodge is quite amazing. Wonderful layout and details that would work today.

These gardens are fantastic. There is a wonderful mix of colors and smells. The flowers are huge and beautiful. There are two ways to get there. One is up 200 or so rock steps that vary in size. It is a beautiful hike, moderately to mildly strenuous. The other is to drive up a drive. Go in the late afternoon... More

Beautifully planned enclosed garden on Sergeant Mountain. Reflecting pond, formal beds, seating in garden shelter, library in the house, restrooms, and starting point for several trails, one to Jordan Pond. Terraces are a set of steps up from the road: good views, small parking lot, will raise the heart rate a bit.

We were very impressed by the beautiful flowers in these well-maintained gardens. We saw numerous butterflies and a few hummingbirds. It is not a large place so it is a great side trip for a morning or afternoon.

You can drive to the garden, but take the walk up from the highway if you can - it's a beautiful easy hike up. The gardens are beautiful and well worth the $5.00 entrance fee.

This was a wonderful place to visit! You can drive up to the beautiful flower gardens or climb up the granite steps, which we did. The climb is not hard and has nice stone outcroppings and shelters. The carved doors to the main garden depict area flora and fauna and it is a very peaceful place.

We parked at the bottom and walked up. It's a nice walk with natural and formal gardens. I recommend the walk through the woods to the azalea garden also.

We definitely would have driven right by this garden if we hadn't been given a tip by our innkeeper! Even though we knew what we were looking for, the signage for this garden is small, so if you decide that you want to vist Thuya Garden, you definitely need to keep your eyes open when you approach Northeast Harbor. Good for adults who like beautiful flowers and gardening. Don't take your teenager- they will roll their eyes and think you are even more lame than before.
