Spend some down time just relaxing in the garden. It's very peaceful. There's benches & a pavilion with seats for your enjoyment.

A very pleasant garden with lovely butterflies and hummingbirds! The garden was interesting since it has been carved out of the hillside and uses local plants and trees.A natural garden!! The lodge was very interesting and worth the visit.

This little known sanctuary is a beautifully landscaped area with a Japanese influence in its hand-raked wooded paths. Two huge rows of flowers in the central lawn area present a riot of color in summer, with labels for almost all blooming plants. A great place to gather ideas for additions to your own garden.

We've visited Thuya Gardens on several trips to Mount Desert Island at different times of the year and it's always spectacular. It's a little hard to find because it is off the road. If you are traveling route 3 towards Northeast Harbor and pass the Asticou Inn and gardens, you've gone too far. There is parking just off route 3... More

Worth a stop and worth walking from the roadside parking area (though for those with climbing limitations, there is parking up the hill by the entrance.). Stunning views of Southwest Harbor on climb up. Beautiful flowers -- lots of butterflies!

The Thuya Gardens and their accompanying lodge (a former summer cottage) are meticulously maintained and operated. They contain beautiful flowers, bees, and butterflies.

I live in Maine and make a point of visiting Thuya Gardens every summer in its peak season (July and August). A spectacular perennial garden. The color combinations are inspired. There is a shelter at the end of the garden with cushioned benches that is perfect for a quiet read. the monarch butterfly habitat is a treat as well. Not... More

Beautiful gardens in Acadia National Park - small, so you can fit in a visit along with Asticou Azalea Garden. We visited in late May, early morning, so the weather was wonderful and the flowers were in bloom. If you only have time for one of these gardens, I'd recommend Asticou Azalea Garden, especially if the azaleas are in bloom.

The gardens are magnificent. Entrance is (surprisingly free) but they do suggest a $5 donation, and its' worth every penny. There is a trail linking this with the azalea gardens so you can visit both without moving your car. The walk from the main parking area on Route 3 is uphill and not suited to anyone with mobility issues, but... More

Extremely well done semi-formal gardens on top of a hill overlooking the water. Many hundreds of flowers, shrubs, trees, mosses and water features in a tranquil setting. My wife and son (and I) also enjoyed the wild blueberries along the trail and in the gardens. Lovely views, lots of birds, squirrels, frogs and a whole bunch of Monarch butterflies. Terrific...
