Loved, loved, loved the puffins. We took videos and photographs. So much fun being in the bird blind. Boat trip uneventful, (not fancy), on a beautiful August day, have been wanting to go to Machias Seal Island for years. Recommend the trip for the birds, double meaning not intended! Happy flying!

Wow! fantastic trip. so many birds....Puffins, Razorbills, Murres and some seals. Also saw a few Gannets. Really informative crew but not too much talking so we could enjoy the quiet of the ocean. Go onto the island if you can, we stated in a blind for over an hour and you get so close you could almost touch them. Would... More

Whether driving to see the villages and scenery or taking a hike, the bold coast has something for every nature lover to enjoy! The wildflowers make a sharp and wonderful contrast to the ocean along the coast.

We used the Sunrise Downeast Trails with our ATV. What a great trail. We picked driftwood and seaglass on several beaches. We could walk right to the restaurant

Was a little difficult to find starting point of hike but once there and hiking was breathtaking. The views were spectacular and the hike was both relaxing and challenging. The only issue was limited camping spots. Such an amazing site to wake up to.

This is the hike to the coast from Route 191 east of Cutler. There is a sign designating the parking area and trail head. I first hiked this area with my husband after reading about it in Downeast Magazine where the views were described as the "real Maine." So true! The hike in takes you through bogs and stands of... Unlike mid-coast Maine, Down East provides many working harbors for lobster and other fishing boats. The "real" Maine as I was told; not all touristy. Most glances of the sea as you drive along the beautiful coast provides panoramic views of boats, islands and at low tide, a lot of boulders. I have never seen a tide that fluctuates as... More

Enjoyed the road trip from North Belgrade, Maine to Down East, Maine, stopping at antique shops, family owned restaurants where we could chat with the locals, beaches to look for sea glass, and a great way to finish the summer vacation with a good friend.

Beautiful, little-known hike. The strenuousness of the trail keep the Acadia National Park crowds away. Wasn't able to spend the night.
