We thoroughly enjoyed the SS Katahdin tour around parts of Moosehead Lake. Parts because to tour the entire lake would take 8 hours! The lake is Maine's largest at 40 miles long and 20 miles wide. Our 3 hour trip was narrated by the captain who not only did a great job navigating and story telling but also let anyone... More

There is nothing like seeing an area from the water to give you a different perspective. This is the event for you when you come to the Greenville area. If you have some flexibility in your days here, try to plan your Katahdin excursion for a good weather day as it is lovely to sit on the top deck and... More

We took the once a year eight hour tour with breakfast and lunch served along with live music. The Captain tells the local history and stories as we pass near local landmarks. Pulled into a cove near Mt. Kineo and took in the sites as a Bald Eagle circled above. The weather was a bit cold and blankets were ready... More

This is an historic ship that cruises Moosehead Lake. The scenery is quite lovely & there is some narration regarding history & shore structures. There is no comfortable seating inside. We did this cruise on October 11 & it was 50 degrees. We sat on a bench outside on the port deck for about half the trip but it was... More

I had ridden the Katahdin twice in the past - very worthwhile trip. This trip I just visited the museum. It is a small, one room museum with lots of good pictures and models of the various ships that were used on the lake. Spme logging tools are also exhibited. A movie on the last logging float is shown on... More

Nice cruise of the Moosehead Lake. There is a gift shop and small food service on board (good food). The views of the shore and mountains are beautiful. Great for "leaf peeping." I would not recommend for active children, though. It is 3 /12 hours in a confined space. However, for those interested in the Lake, I highly recommend the... More

The cruise was enjoyable on a beautiful lake with gorgeous scenery. We were a little disappointed that the captain of the boat was also the narrator. It would have been more enjoyable if there would have been a guide giving the commentary. Enjoyed a good lunch while cruising and appreciated that we were allowed to bring our own snacks and... We took a trip on the Katahdin, and it was really nice. The vessel alone is worth the trip, but the scenery was exceptional. We had sandwiches on board, and they were very good. All in all, I would strongly recommend this cruise.

I did the rock & roll cruise and loved it! The music and the people were great and what a view. We brought our own drinks, but food was available for purchase.
