I have been to this beach so many times but will review my last experience: I took my six daughters there in August 2014. There are two "places" to go at the beach "Giffords Head" and "Half Mile Beach". I prefer Half Mile Beach. **NOTE SNACK BAR CLOSED 2014** Couldn't believe it - there is nowhere to get food close... Went to tons of nice places in Maine and New England. This was my least favorite. We paid about $20 to get into the park and stayed about 30 minutes. Take bug spray.

This is a beautiful state park with two beaches: Half Mile beach and One Mile Beach. While the view was spectacular, we visited in August, and the bugs were unbearable. It was almost impossible t sit on the beach. I would suggest lots of bug spray before going!

We were in Maine on vacation and wanted to visit this beach based on a friend's recommendation. We went on a cloudy day, there was 30% chance rain predicted. We noticed right off the many picnic tables and the beautiful rocky shoreline. It was very scenic and doubtless a great place to take photographs. There was also a cute little... More

Went here after Popham Beach, quite a difference. This beach was deserted by comparrison. Great stretch of sandy beach with a pounding surf. Unfortunately, the horse flies nearly drove us away. But we went to the beach for the fun of the waves and played for a couple hours despite the water temp reported at the booth of 54 degrees... More

Unspoiled beaches, beautiful natural setting perfect for photos and out of the way for peace & quiet. The surf was crashing as in pictures! Gorgeous beaches differed only in length w/ beach roses along trails. The jaunt up on the rocks was easy & well worth it! Only negative was the horse or deer flies in one spot today &... More

Half mile beach is the best section of Reid State park. Towards the end of the beach is a small river that forms as the water evacuate during the transition of high tide to low tide. It is very impressive but the most fun is the current that it generates. You can swim or let yourself float out to sea:)... More

Nice Beach. Lots of tide pools to explore. But the Sea Gulls are the most aggressive I have seen! They took a lady's towel and then went back for the chips. We couldn't walk the beach together because they were coming in for our styrafoam picnic basket covered with a rock. Friendly staff. Friendly vacationers. Clean restrooms and change houses.... More
