It was a bit cool when we were there, but still a fun trip. Before going go to (www.downeastscenicrail.org) for information and to see how you can get tickets . Volunteers are really a lot of help and full of information about the ride and what you will see. We rode a train like this in N.C. and loved it,... More

We've been on beautiful train rides, but this one was a bit disappointing. Too much stuff near the tracks and not enough scenery. We did see a nice meadow and beaver pond. the people were fantastic, so my rating is raised because of the dedicated people who volunteer on this line. It is not expensive and if you just want... My Husband and Granddaughter and I took the train ride last year on father's Day and enjoyed it very much! It was still chilly out but we sat outside in the open car anyway to get the best views. My husband is a great train lover and I am an avid birdwatcher so we both found it entertaining. I loved... More

The ride was 90 minutes and was a pleasant ride through the outskirts of town. The volunteers were very informative and professional. The equipment is in top notch condition. You can ride in an open air car or an enclosed coach.

The train ride was pleasant; the equipment was well kept up, employees/volunteers were friendly and well informed. Unfortunately, I did not feel that we saw anything of significance. Would not do again.

Fun Scenic and historic train ride! for an hour and a half you can tour the local area from the comfort of the seating on the train-let the engineer do the driving for a bit, slow down, and remember history.

The ride is nothing spectacular, but the conductors are wonderful with the kids and talk to them about the history of the train, the route and how they are turning the train around. The cars are beautifully redone and it is wonderful to support the efforts.

My kids love train rides, and we have taken "scenic" train rides in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Wyoming. This was NOT scenic. You go through town, the engine unhooks, then you go back through town, and through a small wetland area. It was ugly, and pointless. I honestly could not believe that it was the entire trip, I thought surely they... More

Our ALL VOLUNTEER staff has worked very hard to restore the vintage railroad equipment and the rail line at the Downeast Scenic Railroad. We are in our 5th year of operation, which is new compared to the other railroads mentioned. We have grown each year and our goal is to reach Green Lake and offer more trip options and a... More

Nice train ride through along a preserved train track. The turn around is particularly interesting. Families would have a fun time on this ride, just long enough-even for smaller kids.

Nice option to shopping at LL Bean on a rainy day. It's great to see and imagine how life used to be in this little crossroads town. My only complaint is that the ride doesn't loop around so we see the same sights twice. Coming and going. Great for the kids for sure!
