They charge an arm and a leg to look at the back of buildings.... What a waste of time and money. Save yourself the trip to this train wreck

This is a poor excuse for a scenic train. The "scenery" is little more than some woods and houses. It does ride along a cute multi purpose trail; however, many of the people on the trail do not appear friendly to the train. What is much clearer is the attitude of the home owners toward the train, which is unfriendly... More

In terms of mileage this is a very short trip. It takes two hours. Hence this is a good activity for part of the morning or afternoon. There is still ample time left in the day to do other things. Of course, the trains are vintage. One of the nice things about the train is that the rider can sit... More

I recently took a trip on the Downeast Scenic Railroad and had a very enjoyable ride. We were pulled by an Alco switch engine and traveled in 1912 or 1917 passenger cars. I chose the 1917 Lackawanna car as it was from NJ. There is also a flat car with picnic tables and has a cover. I especially liked the... More

Last year on our honeymoon my new husband and I went for a ride on the Maine Eastern Railroad. This year we decided we wanted to do something a little bit different. So we found the Down East Scenic Railroad that instead of an entirely close car and a long ride, like the Maine Eastern Railroad, it has a 90... More

First off, the volunteers who run this ride are wonderful, informative and genuinely love what they do. If you just want to go on a train and enjoy the experience of being on a train and see how trains switch tracks, you will relax and enjoy chugging along for the 90min. We did see an osprey nest and a few... More

This 90 minute train ride is very fun and is run 100% by volunteers that love railroads. Nicely restored passenger cars, inexpensive snacks and water onboard, and nice souvenirs. $15/adult, $8/child for the ride. Worth every penny if your child enjoys different experiences and is not glues to an IPhone or Gameboy. I see this little operation growing in the... More

The train ride was boring. You will literally go 3/4 of a mile, stop, switch directions and go a little further and go back. The people working the train were very nice and informative and we did get to see some osprey and their nests. The ride was not exciting and my children were very bored.
