Nervous Nellie's is a cottage industry (jams and chutneys made with mostly Maine fruit) in a cottage. It's a sculpture studio and acres of whimsical sculptures and installations of American icons like the general store, the juke joint, a western town complete with saloon, sheriff, jail, Chinese laundry, fortune teller, all made in Peter Beerits's quirky style, using re-purposed "junk" from the island dump and countless old barns. Try free jam samples in the shop or have a homemade scone with jam in the tea room. Something for everyone here!

This is a fun, odd little place. But their jams are AMAZING! We shipped a box home and we have truly enjoyed having a taste a Maine after the trip! Our favorites are the chutneys. Stop and check it out!

So much fun to explore this eclectic venue. Allow time to see everything and check out all the buildings plus grounds. Hard to describe so must go see when in the area. We have family with a home there who told us to go see it. Don't miss the gift shop with made on location jams and jellies. A one... More

This place was a hoot! Lots of unusual art work to see. Whimsical and full of surprises. Something neat around every corner and then there is the gift shop! Lots of jams and jellies and soaps and teas - just a great place to explore.

A must see for anyone that appreciates creative art. This place is something that can't be described and is best experienced. We bring guests to Maine to Nervous Nellie's every year. Everyone loves this place and marvels at the creativity using recycled items.

We take all first-time visitors to Nervous Nellies and returning visitors always ask to go back. Every year there are new pieces of found art to enjoy and laugh over, so the site never gets boring. And, it's free! This is a one-of-a-kind place and, if you're visiting Deer Isle, put it on your to-do list. Take the grandparents along.... More

This is an amazingly unique trip, fun for the whole family. You will be surrounded by a unique vision in metal, wood, and recycled materials. You can interact, draw, lollygag, play, take fun pictures and eat scones with jam. Definitely worth the trip to Deer Isle. Don't miss the newest addition, the church in the back woods. Really beautiful. There... More

As if Deer Isle wasn't fun enough, we just discovered THIS gem of twisted art and sculpture! We spent a fun and mesmerizing hour roaming through Peter Beerits' Wild West mini-town complete with his bizarre and whimsical humanoid sculptures that "people" the town. There is a saloon, a fortune teller, a chapel, Hardy's General Store, which is actually a replica... More

We've been here twice and love it. As a friend from Florida gushed, "I've NEVER seen anything like it!" Really. Amazing sculptures in a village setting (tavern, grocery store, Old West saloon, jail etc.) with sculptures made of junk metal. He is sooooo talented. A walk in the woods reveals many more of his amazing, usually life-size works - and... More

This place is a trip! I guess the draw is the jams, etc., but the art is worth the detour. A must see, if you're in the area.

We are senior citizens and so enjoyed Nervous Nellies; laughing our way through the village and the shops and of course purchasing Blue Raz Conserve - to die for! Also purchased the blank all occasion cards with fantastic animal drawings. Highly recommended for all ages and excellent holiday gift ideas.
