Nervous Nellie's is a cottage industry (jams and chutneys made with mostly Maine fruit) in a cottage. It's a sculpture studio and acres of whimsical sculptures and installations of American icons like the general store, the juke joint, a western town complete with saloon, sheriff, jail, Chinese laundry, fortune teller, all made in Peter Beerits's quirky style, using re-purposed "junk" from the island dump and countless old barns. Try free jam samples in the shop or have a homemade scone with jam in the tea room. Something for everyone here!

I stumbled across this place on a bicycle ride and was enamored with the sculptures. Fanciful and worth a visit.

A great place for a leisurely visit, full of fun surprises in the woods and little buildings that dot the property. Loved the sculptures and creativity, adore the jam.

While staying at The Pilgrim's Inn Bed and Breakfast we were served Nervous Nellies' Blueberry Preserves and they were so good that I had to ask where they were from. We didn't have time to visit the store while in the area (we were attending a wedding) but immediately when we returned home I got on the phone and ordered... More

Nervous Nellie's is a stop you MUST make if on Deer Isle. Peter Beerits' found art creations are so much fun to see and appreciate. What he creates out of junk is amazing! Pay attention to the details on his sculptures of people and babies alike. ;) Be sure to walk through the woods to see all of his creations... More

A fun place to visit and explore! And the preserves are delicious. Our vacations to Stonington would not be complete if we didn't visit Nervous Nellie's and purchase several jars of their treats for ourselves, family and friends.

We stopped in because of the good reviews and were not prepared for this incredible place. It's a huge art installation that's obviously been underway for years. The kids loved it, and so did the adults.

The arguably best wild Maine blueberry preserves are made by hand in a little kitchen at Nervous Nellies, and you would do well to buy several for yourself and several more for lucky friends. The proprietor makes a number of other excellent jams and jellies as well, all of which you can taste free of charge at his little tasting... More

My husband and I went here after staying on Deer Isle for the weekend. We heard about Nervous Nelllie's but nothing could prepare us for the actual shop. It was so quirky and fun. We loved looking at all the hard work that the artist had put in to each and every piece. Very fun place to go and explore.

The art work is distinctive and entertaining, The jams and jellies are just the topping on the cake. It is not east to get around if you have difficulty walking. Many of the pieces are in the woods, though it a short walk. The children ask about it as soon as they hear we are going to the Island.

While staying in Blue Hill, we decided to visit Deer Isle. Our hostess told us not to miss Nervous Nellie's. She was right. Be sure to bring your camera. What creative folks.
