Most visitors do not know that the ocean in Maine is too cold to swim. Lake Megunticook is a wonderful lake to go swimming or boating. I personally don't care for the motorboats, but kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards are perfect entertainment on the lake.

Spent a day here while camping at Camden Hills State Park. Spent the morning with an excellent little hike to Maiden Cliffs which provides spectacular views on a nice day. Takes about 45 minutes to an hour to reach the top and is a moderate hike. You'll want to pack something to eat and drink as you can find yourselves... More

Nice hike for couples and families. Approximately 40 min from base to Maiden Cliff and 20-25 min back down. See the Atlantic Ocean and all of Megunticook Lake and Norton pond. Beautiful view.

We have rented homes on several lakes in Maine, in all areas and on the second day here on Megunticook, i realized I had found my home. Now we have to find a house we can afford, which is probably going to take us just as long as it took us to find this amazing lake with Islands, boulders and... More

Beautiful glacial lake which wander through the mountains and forest. Guests who visit say the ride on the lake is the high light of their visit.

We view the lake from the top of Camden State Park lookout. Swam in the lake at the beach. Beach is small and nothing to right home about & not a really clean picnic area. That being said, at least it was water to swim and cool off after a big hike. Water is shallow.

We enjoyed driving around this lake and looking at the various summer homes on it's bank. There are a couple of small, public beaches where you can swim and put a small boat or kayak in the water.

we picked up sandwiches on the way and spent the afternoon by the lake. Water was a little cold, but didn't stop the teen and 2 little ones from jumping right in. From here, we hiked up Maiden's Trail (trail head right across the road). Even our almost 3 year old was able to make it up the mountain

Lake was smooth and inviting for kayaking, swimming and fishing. Top it off with a beverage on the dock just beautiful and relaxing. Also did the Maidens Cliff trail. A bit tricky in spots with steep terrain, rocks, and trees to climb over. Well worth the stunning view from the top and discovering the legend behind the cross.
