This was a fun stop BUT just drive the shore line. Get a map or google maps and drive around and see the area. Rockport and Rockland have a lot to offer. If you are looking for great opportunities to get pictures of Maine....This is how you do it.

Megunticook Lake is a short drive from Camden. It's easy to drive around most of the lake. Views of the surrounding area are nice. There are many places with public access for swimming. The water temperature is pleasant in the summer. This would be a great place to paddle for the day.

There is a boat launch and parking area. We took our kayaks and completely covered the lake. HUGE boulders in the lake are evidence that at one point in time, there are have been landslides. I would recommend anyone who is entertaining taking a motor boat, consider this.

We drove the length of the lake to the boat landing and put in our kayaks. The boat traffic was reasonable as we paddled around the shore. Four hours later we still did not complete the entire lake, but it was a great day on the water. Many small coves to explore.

We went kayaking there for half a day. Used Ducktrap Kayak in Lincolnville. Dan was great. We rented 5 kayaks. The scenery was spectacular and fun to see all the beautiful beach front summer homes. We picnicked on the island in the middle of the lake by what looked like an abandoned group of old cabins. It was a totally... More

Beautiful, peaceful, clean, lots of loons! We've enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and fishing in this lake.

We took our boat during our camping trip. We put in at both boat launches and found each can be busy but with different types of boats. The main launch near the beach is easily accessed but can get busy no nicer days. The dock makes it easy to put in but the parking layout is a bit odd and... More

A fun a hike! The entire hike is in the shade. There is some "steep" areas. At the top the view overlooking Megunticook Lake is great! At the top there is a large cross, me memorializing the death of a young girl. Views of the ocean and the town of Camden
