My husband and I went to Camden, ME for our honeymoon in October 2013. Our first day there we went on the Surprise, with Captain Jack and Barbara. The Sunset cruise was amazing, very romantic. Such a beautiful boat, very nice to everyone on the board. They made time to talk to all 18 people on board and were very... More

The Surprise is beautiful. The trip was perfect. Thank you Capt.'s Jack & Barbara for sharing your boat, your stories and your passion for sailing and living life to the fullest degree. This was an experience we will never forget. The postcard town of Camden is the exact place you would expect this trip to take place. When the time... More

The Schooner Surprise is a beautiful boat and the Captain and his "Mate"(wife) are a delightful couple with lots of interesting stories to tell. They made everyone very comfortable and relaxed. Although doing it for a long, long time, they still were enjoying it and the people and having fun. Could not have been better. We highly recommend spending a... More

I didn't hesitate giving the Schooner Surprise cruise 5 stars. Such a beautiful and comfortable boat and reasonably priced too. Capt Jack and his 1st mate Barbara (on the boat and in real life!) were such nice people. Not only were they full of wonderful stories and interesting facts about the area and the other boats that we encountered... they... More

Our hotel recommended this tour and it was a wonderful experience. It was a great introduction to Camden and Jack and Barbara are the perfect hosts. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon.

We sailed with Jack and Barbara early Sept and absolutely loved our decision. It was a very windy day wish ultimately made it an excellent experience. They are so knowledgeable and they both were great with sharing of stories...I would easily return to sail with them any time I am in the area. Can say enough about how good the... More

We enjoyed this family owned business; the husband and wife, Captain Jack and First mate, Barbara, made us feel at home. They even let some of the guys help with the sails once we were out of port and on wind power only. Time seemed suspended and we enjoyed hearing the sea stories from Capt. Jack and the ginger cookies... More

After a cool morning, the sun came out and warmed everything up quickly. We were headed into Camden and had talked about doing a sail. The sky was cloudless and beautiful. We called and scheduled the 3:00 pm sailing. Promptly at 2:45 Captain Jack called us aboard and we set sail promptly at 3:00. The schooner was built in 1916... More

We took the 5pm sailing on the "Surprise", and enjoyed a beautiful evening sail. Captain Jack and his wife, Co-Captain Barb kept us informed and enterained with the stories of the schooner and how they came to own her. It became chilly out on the open sea, but Barb handed out lap blankets and jackets to all who needed them.... More

My family enjoyed a beautiful afternoon sail on the Schooner Surprise with Capt. Jack and his wife Barbara. The Schooner was recommended by the B&B we were staying in, and we were pleased to have booked on the Surprise. There are other schooners that go out of Camden for about the same price (it was $38pp), but the Surprise was... More
