We sailed at 5:15pm and had a wonderful time. You can bring wine and really enjoy the two hours. Would recommend the trip. The owners are wonderful; the boat is beautiful.

What a lovely way to spend the late afternoon. We took our two teenagers, aunt and grandmother out on the Surprise for the 5:15 sail. The young couple, Nicole and Ramiro, who bought the schooner from its previous longtime owners were delightful hosts, full of information about the bay and the surrounding islands. The Surprise, unlike the larger schooners that... More

This schooner is owned by a husband and wife and are the friendliness people you can meet. They sit with you and their boat holds only 18 people. They let you take the wheel of the boat and that is fun. You can take a sandwich on the boat and wine and eat while you are cruising. It is worth... More

We enjoyed an evening cruise out from Camden. The skipper and his wife were engaging, experienced sailors who shared their personal stories, along with the history of this early 1900's boat. Unfortunately, the winds were very calm so we didn't get to experience the Surprise at her full force dance, but still it was a relaxing, lovely experience. The price... More

Nicole and Ramiro, owners of the Surprise, were a highlight of my recent wedding weekend plans. My husband and I ran two two-hour sails back to back and enjoyed spending some time with our guests in a beautifully perfect Maine setting. Nicole catered the sails for us, as she has a background in catering as well. Her culinary skills are... More

I reserved two spots for my husband and me on Schooner Surprise and we were very happy with the choice. Nicole and Ramiro bought the boat early in 2014 from a couple who had sailed it for decades...and it is clear they are committed to giving visitors and wonderfully pleasant, educational experience just like their predecessors. They gave riders the... More

The combination of beautiful weather, a gentle breeze and the warm hospitality of our captain and first mate, the husband and wife team of Ramiro and Nicole, made this adventure the highlight of our visit to Camden. The Surprise, built in 1918, is a nautical treasure and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been beautifully maintained... More

We were fortunate to be in Camden with gorgeous weather, and it was the perfect opportunity to be on the water and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We could not have been more pleased with our decision to sail on the Surprise with such a lovely couple, Nicole and Ramiro, who are the new owners of this sweet and historic schooner,... More

We're not boaters, but we do like to get out on the water. This smaller-sized schooner was perfect. Because of its size, it doesn't get over-packed with people. It certainly helped that the weather we had was perfect for a sail -- sunny, warm, good breeze, but not too windy and the water wasn't choppy. When it got cool out... More

We just sailed for the second time with the Surprise within 2 days. We couldn't get enough. Beautiful boat, gorgeous scenery, and delightful owners. A must for anyone visiting Camden!
