It was a surprise, unexpected side trip visit on our bicycling trip in Brunswick, Maine! We were very much impressed by this beautiful museum, with very nice and friendly staff and very cool art exhibits. It was supposed to be a break for, but stayed to savour the arts displays! We really enjoyed our brief visit, and plan on coming... More

Interesting exhibit "Night Visions" currently running at the college. My daughter, her boyfriend, and I stopped in during a recent visit to our summer place in Brunswick. We've been to this museum 3 times, each time there is something interesting going on. Self guided, you can breeze through, or really relax and take in all the exhibits. A great place... More

A hidden gem of a museum and it is free. They have a great selection of artwork and you could spend hours here or see the highlights in an hour.

Every time we visit Maine, we love to stop in here. Yes, some exhibits are permanent, but there are changing ones too. We paticularly love the current exhibits Night Vision and Gilbert Stuart. And we ask how does this small college manage to have such lovely art? Well worth stopping in.

We very much enjoyed Night Vision: Amer. Art 1860-1960 at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. The exhibit was well curated & had many works we appreciated seeing. We were surprised and impressed by the exhibits depth. Open late on Thursdays, and we took advantage of a late day visit.

This has fantastic art! It is a fairly small gallery, but it is packed with amazing artists and beautiful works of art. I love the different openings they have - people, food, and art - what could you want more?!

Free museum on campus that is larger and more diverse than one might think and quite exceptional for a college exhibition. Photography is not allowed in most areas.

For the first time, Bowdoin College Museum of Art partnered in 2015 with the Bowdoin International Music Festival (held on campus in July) to host two free 11 am concerts in a gallery in its McKim, Mead and White building. A chamber concert in a chamber! What a concept! And a very successful joint venture, devoutly hoped to be repeated.... More

Bowdoin College is a beautiful old liberal arts college with a long list of distinguished graduates. The free museum is definitely worth the visit. The exhibits are of high quality. My only complaint is that was some sort of lecture during our visit--after which the participants held a "social hour" in the museum, which made it hard to concentrate. That... More
