Frankly, I was not expecting a lot from an art museum at a small liberal-arts college in Maine. I was, therefore, surprised to find several very well curated, if rather unrelated, exhibits. There's a superb collection of prints and engravings by impressionist artists - Degas, Pissarro, Rodin - which, although lacking the immediate impact of their paintings (and sculpture) is... More

We were quite impressed with the lecture and open house in honor of the Tuttle exhibit that we attended on Oct 2. Visiting Bar Harbor for the Night Sky Festival and flying in and out if Portland we included the art museum in our itinerary from the start. We were curious there were not more people attending but as the... More

The Richard Tuttle exhibit was so thoughtfully designed. I was just exploring the area and happened upon the museum. I spent 2 hours simply enthralled by the works and the descriptions from the curator. Truly an enjoyment. The Jazz exhibit and the Assyrian Gallery were wonderful as well.

This outstanding college art museum not long ago acquired an excellent addition to its historic building and reorganized its display areas. Programming has included several temporary exhibits, which may be a strength here.

A new addition a few years ago and strong programming make this worth a drive. The William Wegman show was witty and interesting and well hung/organized.

Just a wonderful museum, was so surprised to see the sculpture's from Egypt...and so much more, oil paintings, art objects and a nice gift shop. Best of all free admission! Definitely worth the walk and plan to return.

Excellent college art museum, giving a nod to both contemporary as well as classical (e.g. Assyrian, early American) art. A recent exhibition was on when we went: Gottleib’s photos of jazz musicians, with the music of Ella and Louis, Django Reinhardt, Billie Holiday, and others in the exhibition room. It’s a beautifully laid-out small museum, with helpful and courteous staff.... More

If you are in Brunswick you should visit Bowdoin College and the Museum of Art. A treasure of a museum with something for everyone. Recent exhibit of Richard Tuttle is interesting and inspiring. Admission is by donation. Walk through the campus as well. Plenty of spots to sit and rest.

A lovely stop on the way to Bar Harbor. Always some interesting reviews and a lovely though tiny gift shop. Found a birthday present for our mother. A lovely campus and free museums with something for everyone.

It's a cute little museum that it worth walking around once. I've brought a few of my friends and family to show them around Brunswick and for the price (free!) there isn't really any complaints. Just don't go in with super high expectations and you will see a few beautiful pieces.
