The historic Boothbay Opera House offers a wide variety of excellent entertainment. Check locally for a schedule. It is a gem in the heart of a small Maine town. Things are slower in winter but the Gingerbread Spectacular just concluded.

Staging, audio, lighting and overall ambience is perfect for anyone performing, watching or listening. No bad seating anywhere, on the floor or in the surround balcony. Richness enhanced by the old wooden structure that seems to add personality to any preformance. Of course, we saw Rhiannon Giddens there and the quality of both her performance and instrumental accumen of her... More

We have visited this place 3 times since 1997. They have grear selection of events but unfortunately we are only in BBH for about 2 weeks . We have enjoyed all, the wooden opera house makes for a very warm sound.

The highlight of each summer visit to Boothbay Harbor is attending shows at the Opera House. We caught two shows this summer as we have the previous three summers. Be sure to visit the 'lounge' before the show and try the Ginger Beer, simply marvelous! Felt like a local enjoying this treasure in Boothbay Harbor!

Saw a Celtic group there, cherish the ladies, excellent performance but the seating was not great and it was really hot in the balcony. Left at intermission due to the hear and bad seats,.

This establishment is very nice for viewing with two levels, and a lot of capacity for seating. They have two bars which is also good, and a giant parking lot. There are some pretty great performances that come here, and the setting is very nice.

Fun experience, we saw a great show by Hot Club of Cowtown. A nice venue for a relaxing and informal evening, very reasonably priced. While we were only in the area for two nights, the list of known acts on the schedule was impressive.

We have seen several shows at the Opera House, all very good, all tickets very reasonable. Just walking around this grand, spacious, old building is a show in itself. Make no mistakes, seating is folding chairs and there is no air conditioning. The refreshments are plentiful, fresh and largely homemade. There is coffee available as well as beer and alcohol.

Spent a very pleasant evening at a Bluegrass concert, the crowd, mainly locals and some tourists were friendly and clearly enjoyed the energetic performance. It is open seating- on fairly hard folding chairs so take a cushion- and best to arrive 30 minutes before the show to join the line. Ticket prices reflect the relatively small audience capacity and the... More
