We had a delightful afternoon on this beautiful vessel with Herb and Doris. Everything about this was wonderful including the great stories that Herb and Doris shared with us. I was a little nervous to try it since it was my first experience with sailing and didn't know what to expect. Usually, I'm fine but I have gotten seasick once... More

We took the two hour trip around the harbour and were fortunate enough to have Herb & Doris as our respective helm and crew. An ideal day with just enough wind and good visibility. This was a real experience - so much better than a modern pleasure boat trip. Doris told a host of anecdotes and recounted her's and Herb's... More

My wife and I have taken many trips on larger schooners for a as much as a week at the time. This sail with Herb and Doris was a wonderful experience leaving us with wishing it was for a longer length of time. Herb is a master at the helm and Doris can set the sails in a hearbeat and... More

I never realized this should be on my bucket list but it should have been! I had never been on any boat with a sail so this was a first and what a first it was! Doris and Herb gave us an absolutely wonderful tour of the area around Boothbay and told many stories about their sailing journeys. The scenery... More

I went back to Eastwind Schooner and was as pleased as the first time. It is a thrilling and beautiful way to see Boothbay.

Gorgeous sailboat. The builders, Herb and Doris Smith used to do the tours themselves and share stories of their round-the-world trips. Now they are retired, but crew was very nice and the trip can't be beat on a pretty day. We've gone out several times. Always a pleasure.

We have sailed on the Eastwind 6 times in the past, but this past June there was an entirely different crew. They were very friendly and gregarious, but in a strong wind they had some major difficulties with the sails. It kind of tainted what is usually a FANTASTIC, MAGICAL 2 hour tour on the Eastwind. We'll try again next... More

The Schooner Eastwind is a beautiful sailboat and the crew are awesome. We took a smooth 2-hour sail around the Boothbay harbor and toured the lighthouse and islands. We highly recommend this sailing adventure!

Our two hour sail on the schooner Eastwind was the highlight of our vacation in Boothbay Harbor. The boat, built by Herb and Doris Smith, our captain and mate for the sail, is gorgeous. They are fascinating hosts with tales of adventure from sailing around the world. The tour of the harbor and islands with many lighthouses, fascinating history, sightings... More
