Description: Lazy Jack takes her lines from the traditional Gloucester fishing...
Lazy Jack takes her lines from the traditional Gloucester fishing schooners of the 1850's and has had a colorful and notorious history as a fishing and passenger charter schooner. During the early years Lazy Jack sailed between the East Coast, Man O War Key and Cuba running guns, rum, cigars and bananas. Today Lazy Jack offers 2 hr. day sails or private charters from Pier 1 in Boothbay Harbor celebrating 66 years of continuous sailing and 10 years as Boothbay Harbors only historic working schooner. Lazy Jack is owner operated by Captain Joe Tassi and his son Michael.

The real thing

Our family had a wonderful, relaxing afternoon. This is real sailing, not a tourist trap. Exactly what we were hoping to find! Thank you for a great experience.

Joe and Michael were great hosts on this superb 2 hour sail around Boothbay Harbour. Little use of the motor produced peace. We just saw whatever happened in the sun. Took beer and a picnic. Happy days!

We love the Lazy Jack and Joe is really informative on the sights we seen along the way...The view is breath taking, so relaxing.. But be on the look out, you might just see a few seals and dolphins along the way! This is my second time on the Lazy Jack. I don't think you will be disappointed if you... More

This was our second trip to Boothbay and our second sail on the Lazy Jack and we will do it again on the next trip. The first time we had plenty of wind, this time not so much but on both we had a great time. Capt. Joe is friendly and informative but you also have quiet time to just... More

We had a lovely sail through the harbor, the sun shining and we had an ok breeze. Shame that the wind didn't pick up a bit more, but that's sailing. The captain and crew where very friendly and entertaining in anwsering questions and telling about the boat and sailing adventures.

My husband and I recently took trip on the Schooner Lazy jack. This was one of the best boat day trips we have ever taken... The Captain was extremely friendly, answering all my annoying questions which I must have asked the entire trip. Captain Joe was very informative and kept our attention the entire trip. Even when the wind died... More

I went on both the Schooners in Boothbay Harbor and here is my truth of the Eastwind and Lazy Jack. I did not personally get the Tripadvisor "pep talk" on my trip with Captain Gil on the Eastwind; however, I did hear about it on my Lazy Jack sail. Bottom line: Both provide a lovely typical sailing experience. I would... More

We took the 5:30 cruise with Lazy Jack's (sailed by Captain Joe - kind of confusing). Could not be happier with experience. Did not see a bunch of marine life, etc. but this was not what this is what this sailboat ride is about and he tells you that upfront. It was very authentic. Beautiful sailboat. I had never been... We had a wonderful 2hr sail on the Lazy Jack today! Joe, the captain, and Nate, the mate, were great hosts, answering all our questions when we had them. We were glad that there wasn't a running commentary; it left us free to enjoy the sail on our own terms. The boat wasn't crowded in September, but even at capacity... More

My husband wanted me to experience being out on a sail boat. This was a nice plus for our trip. It was later in the day, and cooler, so it was not as crowded as the previous group was. Was glad they suggested a jacket and comfortable warm shoes. It was well worth the $35 each. The people were nice.... More
