Each of the many covered bridges is unique--enjoy driving thru some & just the walk thru others. Walking thru Sunday River Bridge is great, because you can really see how the bridge is constructed. The intricate wood pegs of long ago. Good spot for pictures.

My husband and I stopped by for a few minutes as it was a recommended "thing to do" in the area. It's a cool bridge with a nice view of the river, and really cool to stand on the bridge as the river gushes beneath you. We noticed a hiking trail on the side but we had just gotten back... More

I wanted to show my kids how bridges used to be made and this was an excellent place to do that. It is only a couple of minutes off of the access road to sunday rive ski resort. As it was winter and everything was covered in snow and ice we did not hike around the area.

As a child I swam in the river below the bridge. The beautiful, flat rocks below held our towels while we swam or floated down the river in an intertube. Not exactly a sophisticated view of today's resort and snow-boarding activities, but a one of my most cherished memories. The bridge, the area, Bethel, all of it is one of... More

This bridge is like something out of 'Sleepy Hollow' and must be seen. It is an old wooden bridge with lovely views over a river. This is much bigger than you think! It's about 15mins away by car from Bethel.

There is a trail that starts near the bridge which took us to some very pretty views of the river and fall foliage. I got some good pictures there.

Short drive from Bethel was a treat with the fall foliage at it's peak. Foilage adjacent to bridge added beauty. Convenient parking is available.

The Sunday River Bridge is nice if you are in area...but I wouldn't make a special trip again...it sits beside a busy 2 lane road...I think a working bridge on an oil top road has a much more authentic feel...for instance the Babs Bridge...there was also a group of people having a formal meeting on the bridge (on a Sunday)..... I have visited several times. If you are close anyway, it is a very nice thing to see. I wouldn't travel hours to see it tho!

I have seen this old covered bridge several times and understand why it's called the "artists bridge" because it would be excellent to paint a picture of this landmark. I can't paint so I take pictures and enjoy showing them to friends.
