We thoroughly enjoyed the 1 hour train ride. Saw 3 deer and a Osprey nest. Rode in the enclosed car on the first half and then the open car on the return. I recommend the open car for viewing the scenery. Reasonable prices.

Not much to see here. Just an okay stop with not much things to look at in station. Just an okay ride with a diesel engine.

Thank for riding on the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad. We are continuing to expand our museum collections. In the coming seasons we plan to construct a display track that will house railroad cars to explore, box cars with displays and more interactive displays for the kids. More

A nice train ride through the Maine countryside. Don't expect this to be a "thrill" ride. It is for those who enjoy nostalgic old refurbished train cars with a taste of the historic past.

My husband and I took this train ride and really enjoyed ourselves. The people who run the train are super friendly and very informative. The only draw back that I could see to this trip was there wasn't much in way of scenery except for the woods. I was a little disappointed in that, but it was still worth the... More

What appeared to be nothing remarkable turned into an informative fun and nice slow ride on an old rail line through so nice Maine woods. You have a choice of riding in an enclosed passenger car or in an open-air converted freight car...that's the one to choose. The tracks are bumpy and you can stand in the car and watch... More

Another way to explore the Belfast area. Considering that the whole organization is done by volunteers who are passionnate about trains, it is a fun and instructive activity.

Personnel (Larry, Rusty, engineer Thor) very accommodating and the trip was fun. Open car especially enjoyable. Station grounds well kept. Serious railfans will want to drive up to Brooks and Unity to see depots and equipment stored at those locations. The rail-cycles look like fun too! A must-do for anyone passing through the area. The Downeast Scenic RR in Ellsworth... More

It was just about the experience. The trip lasted about an hour we didn't see much (it would be really cool if they staged some things out in the woods...animals, robbers, cowboys, etc. This would give much more appeal to the experience. It was $14.00 per person to ride. We did it and can say we did it but that... More

It is unfortunate that you did not enjoy your ride. One experience we provide to our customers is the experience of riding an old train. We offer pizza trains and chocolate trains for those who do not desire just the experience of riding an old train. In 2015 we will be introducing additional special trains that will have on board...
