The guides at Laura Plantation have done their homework. Never have I experienced a tour where they literally take you back in time and give you a full understanding of what life was like on a plantation, good and bad. I understand that Laura has an advantage over other plantations, in that they have an extensive history of the place,... More

We came here as part of our big tour...I actually liked this plantation the best. We were lucky and had one of the owners and co writers of the book as our tour guide. He was great. It felt less like a tour and more like we were part of the story. I absolutely loved it. It also helped that... More

I had never seen a plantation before so found this place interesting but it is very much overpriced by many tour companies that charge $55 plus when the actual tour is only $18. When I did the tour I had Rose- I've compared accounts with others who found her quite knowledgable but I felt she rushed through certain parts of... More

had the most amazing experience and can't recommend highly enough to go to this tour. but the man at the end threwmy grand parents out of the toilets so he could go home and it's a long drive for anyone especially old people, it made us so mad, the whole magical trip was spoiled. More

I feel fortunate that I got June as my tour guide. Over about 90 minutes, with just a little sweet and sassy southern charm, and with a contagious passion, she delivered intoxicating tale after tale that had the group laughing, gasping, and hanging on her every word. Definitely a unique and worthwhile visit. Laura plantation is about 51 miles from... More

If you always wondered about the Creole way of life, you must take this tour. We had Rose as our guide and she was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and the family. This isn't your typical walk through. You get a history lesson on the Creole way of life through 4 generations. More

Finally... a REAL look at the way it was during the plantation era. My boyfriend and I were both impressed with Laura Plantation. Our visit was in May, and we were in N.O. for the Jazz Festival. We took the Gray Line tour, much nicer than driving yourself and risking getting lost. Our driver was very informative and had no... More

What a history lesson! Yet so much fun. This house and it's history is very different from the other plantations along the river. Best guides!! More

Sooooo interesting. June's delivery was funny, interesting, and illuminating. Can't wait to go back when more buildings are restored. What an interesting story! More

While the nearby Oak Alley presents itself as the more archetypal southern plantation, there is something quite unique about Laura and its Creole heritage. We visited Laura as part of plantation tour and it offered a fascinating look into southern history, with an emphasis on the female perspective. The tour guide was interesting, providing information on the restoration of the... More
