This was a very interesting tour that goes around the plantation house and grounds, giving you insight into Creole plantation life and the story of the people who lived there. Our guide, Ethan, was very informative and entertaining. Although the plantation itself is not as dazzling as some of the others, the tour at the Laura was by far our... More

What should have been a highly moving and educational trip to a former slave plantation was totally spoilt by an infuriating guide (Julia) who clearly thought this was a drama in which she had the leading role. Even whilst trying to zone out of her dramatic and extra loud performance, it was also a shame that some of the more... More

Brilliant and worth a visit. This was an old creole plantation so very different to Oak Alley but still enjoyable. Lots of history and out guide was brilliant - she was very informative but kept it interesting (and amusing at times). We did this with Tours by Isabelle - recommended.

We visited a few plantations but this was by far the most interesting and educational we visited. It's a creole plantation and doesn't have the glamor of some of the others but our guide was excellent and really gave us a true picture of plantation life and times. The guide went thru the family genealogy and the history of the... More

Excellent tour. Definitely not to be missed! The entire plantation was beautiful. Laura's story (and the history of her family running the plantation) was so fascinating, and the "big house" was interesting to walk through, but the well preserved slave cabins were the most powerful. Our guide, Alex, was incredible and almost brought me to tears with her stories of... More

Drove out from New Orleans and did the Laura tour as well as the Oak Alley Tour. I have to say that I found the Laura tour to be more interesting. But they are so close it's a nice day trip to do both. Our guide at Laura was good - he talked really fast which was hard to follow... More

Wonderful place that takes you back in time. History of this house and the family and slaves which called her home are very interesting. Truly a hardship to build and run.

A great place to visit to see a different type of plantation. This is not a "gone with the wind" building. The emphasis is wholly about Laura and her family. Good to see acknowledgement of how the slaves contributed to the plantations success. Worth a visit

Laura Plantation is a creole plantation that has a very interesting history. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable and the stories she told were fascinating. This tour is not about the house or its furnishings. It is about the people who lived there and the history of the plantation. The architecture of the house was amazing. Its style is quite... More

Tour guide Ethan was full of energy and had a lot of good information. We visited and toured 4 plantations in one day and this one had the most history to share due to Laura and her memories that she had written down. Other plantations are worth seeing too and with less crowds and smaller groups. If you can arrange... More
