I visited Laura and Oak Alley in a day and though Oak Alley was much prettier, Laura had a much more interesting history. The tour was fantastic and overall I recommend anyone spending a few days in NOLA to take the time to see these beautiful plantations!

My wife and I have visited a handful of Louisiana plantations over the years. The Laura Plantation is different in the sense that it is not an Antebellum plantation like so many others in the area. The tour was very educational on life in the 1800's in this part of the country. Our tour guide Doug was entertaining and well... More

Loved tour guide Bryan. He was the perfect host and kept our 4 teens interested the entire tour. You will learn much more in this tour (than oak alley). Since they are within a few minute drive of each other - do both. No restaurant at Laura so plan to eat at Oak Alley ( restaurant was great) Excellent tour.... More

The plantation in itself is a fabulous insight into how things happened all those years ago. The house is simple ad one can imagine, not changed from when it was last lived in. Beautiful. But what made this such a wonderful worthwhile trip was our guide, Bryan. I learned more from him in two hours than in all my years... More

Really different from the other plantations we've been to, this one is really instructive and lively at the same time thanks to great anecdotes. The tour guides are nice and well informed. The best plantation we've seen!

Really loved the personal tour. Made the history come alive. Tour was available in French. You could almost feel the plantation as if it was still operating.

The plantation is really interesting and the guide Bryan really makes the difference. The size of each group is not too big, so that we could interact with the guide.

If the aim of your trip is to learn about slavery in America then this is the place to go. Very detailed at times brutal descriptions of life of the enslaved. Mood at times similar to what I had experienced visiting Aushwitz. First part of the tour is lighter - tells the story of the family who ran the plantation.... More

I visited two plantation homes, and Laura was the better of the two. The tour is very educational, and the guides are experienced and knowledgable. Laura also discusses slavery quite a bit, which cannot be said for all of the tours.
