We recently visited this plantation on a beautiful morning. The guide was excellent - her personality came through as she lead us through a most interesting tour. I am still quoting facts from her as I returned home and described our trip. The pace of the tour was good with plenty of time to ask questions. A different type of... More

The Laura Plantation may not be as pristine or as grandeur as other popular plantations like Oak Alley and Nottoway but it by far has the most fascinating history. And that's not to say that the house and the grounds weren't lovely, they absolutely were. I felt like the Laura plantation actually felt the most authentic and we'll-preserved, far away... More

The history ol this plantation is really captivating, and the way Camille tells you about it, with her touch of humor, her deep knowledge of every details, your tour is over before you know it! There are so many interesting anecdotes in her speech that you could stay listening to her for hours. We bought the Memories of the Old... More

We really enjoyed our tour. Wish I good remember our guide's name, but he really made it come alive for us. Would highly recommend this tour. We visited this Plantation and the one at San Francisco. While that one was better furnished inside, this one was far more memorable due to the guide and stories he could tell us about... More

The highlight of the visit to the Laura Plantation was our excellent tour guide, Camille. She related the plantation's history as well as that of the whole area and made the tour very interesting. The house, however, itself did not impress me compared to other plantation houses that I have toured. I was disappointed that they did not have a... More

We visited Laura Plantation and were pleasantly surprised by Camille, our guide's, level of expertise concerning everything from the plantation, slavery, and history of the time to knowledge of New Orleans and the surrounding Mississippi River area. What was also stood out was her sense of humor. It connected those in the tour and put us at ease during the... More

Over 400 plantations lined the Mississippi in LA and The Laura is one to enjoy. The beautiful colored facade announced French was spoken there. The story of a family of sugar cane growers and slaves comes to life within the walls of the Laura. Each plantation tells a story, and this one truly gives roots to the culture of LA... More

Our tour guide was great. She gave us lots of information on Creole life and on Laura's family. The grounds and the house are gorgeous. I'm glad we chose this plantation.

We went to a few plantations while in LA, and this was the best one. The guides were very knowledgeable and gave a wonderful tour with a wealth of information. They still have many of the original buildings and were able to recover many documents about the history of the farm from the french government. A fire a few years... More
