My family went to Laura not knowing a thing about a Creole plantation or any plantation for that matter. Our tour was excellent, we had the plantations and the family that owned/ran it history explained to us by a docent who was excellent at his job...very engaging!

Interesting Creole plantation - very different from Oak Alley Plantation. Definitely worth the time on the way to Oak Alley. Learned some interesting things about the construction and family as well.

Rather than rambling on our own, the tour guide gave us a good insight in the history of the plantation. Only thing -- was not invited to ask questions.

We did a tour of Laura and Oak Alley Plantations on the same day, so we could compare them both. I must say our guide was very good, even though she did poke fun at us Brits! It is a very interesting place to visit and the tour is based on the memories of Laura, whose family lived there. It... More

A fascinating look at Louisiana Creole history, something not well understood outside of the state. The tour narrative is based on the memoir of Laura, a member of the founding family born in 1861. It covers the several generations of wealthy Creole family, with strong female characters who run a successful plantation in the pre and post Civil War years.... More

My family and I just went for the day and a day well spent. Property was very clean and well preserved. The tour guide Jay was very animated, friendly, and informative. We enjoyed hearing about the life of the family that lived there. I recommend anyone to check Laura out if you are in the area.

I visited Laura and Oak Alley in a day and though Oak Alley was much prettier, Laura had a much more interesting history. The tour was fantastic and overall I recommend anyone spending a few days in NOLA to take the time to see these beautiful plantations!

My wife and I have visited a handful of Louisiana plantations over the years. The Laura Plantation is different in the sense that it is not an Antebellum plantation like so many others in the area. The tour was very educational on life in the 1800's in this part of the country. Our tour guide Doug was entertaining and well... More

Loved tour guide Bryan. He was the perfect host and kept our 4 teens interested the entire tour. You will learn much more in this tour (than oak alley). Since they are within a few minute drive of each other - do both. No restaurant at Laura so plan to eat at Oak Alley ( restaurant was great) Excellent tour.... More

The plantation in itself is a fabulous insight into how things happened all those years ago. The house is simple ad one can imagine, not changed from when it was last lived in. Beautiful. But what made this such a wonderful worthwhile trip was our guide, Bryan. I learned more from him in two hours than in all my years... More
