We love the scenery and relaxing time we spend at the Refuge. We live close by and go often. We have seen gators and lot of birds, raccoons and squirrels! It is a great place to visit and wile away some time on the scenic walk or to just sit on the docks and fish. Easy access and so serene!... More

When you need a place to just sit and relax this is the place to do it at. Go out on the dock and enjoy the view

I had the unique experience of watching this state park being built. It is beautiful property! A great place to camp!

Wear your hiking boats, this is not for the average stroll. The Holmes trail begins just north of Slidell. One of the many government protected areas for nature. Hike the trails, canoe the river, bird watch, check out the abundant fauna. Note that hunting is allowed in some parts of this area in certain seasons.
