Wonderful museum with beautiful grounds filled with azaleas, sculptures, rock gardens. The museum, which is free, is filled with outstanding collections. Go visit! The grounds are especially wonderful during the Spring when the azaleas are in bloom.

It is difficult to imagine that the gallery and its grounds are free. Art pieces including paintings, sculptures, silver pieces, glass pieces, and rare books are on display, along with collections from dolls to firearms. In addition to the gallery, the grounds are beautiful. Over 100 varieties of azalea are represented and were in full bloom last weekend. The forty... More

The R. W. Norton Art Gallery is actually a fabulous museum. They have wonderful paintings and sculptures from some of America's very best artists, as well a few European artists. They are beautifully presented in well appointed spaces, with staff that lovingly cares for them and the guests. It is a gem of a museum surrounded by 40+ acres of... More

Not many Remington," Coming Through The Rye " around. One website said next auction price could be $3 million for an original. While many Remington bronzes have dubious provenance, these look great. Free, knowledgeable guides, lots of beautiful American and European art in a lovely setting in Northwest Louisiana

My 13 and 11 year old sons and I recently had the opportunity to visit the R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was well worth going out of our way to visit. The museum was free, which is an unbelievably good deal these days. If you like American Art with featured artists from Fredric Remington to Mary Cassatt... More

Ah, what a lovely garden (I would guess), too bad we didn't get to walk there since a security guard took a break from his arduous job of sitting in a car to tell us that no cameras are allowed to take pictures of the trees. What about all the people with camera phones, do they have to take them... More

I had only 2 days in the Shreveport area and squeezed this in as my last attraction with less than an hour to visit. What a gem of a museum! I don't know the history of the museum by it was well worth the stop. It is situated in a very peaceful, tree lined street. Unfortunately, I didn't have time... More

The art was great and it had many famous & interesting quotes. Outside of the Art Gallery it has 4 different Arboretum sections to walk through. The price is unbeatable at $0 per person!

I love the art gallery, but love the garden even more. We visited the Hodge's Garden this summer, and, oh, what a disappointment! After it was handed over to the State's care, the garden has not been maintained well at all. In comparison to the Hodge's, the garden behind the Norton is well maintained and manicured. No matter what time... More

If oil painting, Bronze statues, Old World prints or painting from Italy to German, Pencil art, and monthly exhibits from local artists this is a 'Art Lovers Dream.' Each Spring around Easter, hundreds will visit the gallery grounds, to view purple, pink or white azalea bushes, some nearly 4-5 feet high, a small water fall and a short one mile... More
