Unless they have improved in the last few weeks I would skip this venue. It was less then maintained in the garden area. I don't know what I was expecting but it was more then we got. Yes, it's free, but there was nothing to see, it was dirty in the garden area and very hot as well, the gardens... More

We were walking around Shreveport, especially along the river, and we were ready to go indoors to warm up (this is in January). We love to visit gardens and botanical centers in other cities, so I have to say this one is much smaller than you would think. I know everyone will take their own pace to see a place... More

Not only are the grounds gorgeous, the museum always has fabulous art to view. You have to go in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom.

The Barnwell Garden and Art Center, Shreveport, Louisiana. Located on the banks of the Red River this is a combination of indoor art galleries, a conservatory, outdoor plaza and patios with a range of cascades and fountains. Visited in late January – between exhibitions and not the best time for the gardens, but should be a great place to visit... More

I have a monthly garden meeting here. The garden is nice and the art inside is always very good.

Wow. What a disappointment to show up at this botanical garden to find that it had been closed to the public for months. It's highly advertised in the LA tourist brochures. Apparently, it had been over 100 degrees in the garden for over 60 days. It was completely unkempt and locked.

We recently visited and were disappointed. We went on a monday. They were closed. Went back on Tuesday and was able to visit there conference to see some artwork which was nice, but the main plant area is closed to damage from the extreme heat. I understand the heat issue but there should be something on the door explaining that... More

The Barnwell Center is five whole minutes of fun. It usually has an art exhibit in its small gallery and the gardens in the dome are pretty. But the building is small. I would recommend taking a stroll around the area and during the stroll, take a small detour inside- it is entirely free after all. Other places nearby are... More
