Friendly and informative staff greeted us. To explore the area on our own, we were given a booklet as a guide. The grounds are well maintained. The fort is built to resemble the original. French sabots-wooden shoes - were a bit of interest. A chance to learn more than in a history class.

A really nice way to spend an hour or two. The tour involved a ride in a golf cart over to the recreation of the second fort built at the time. It's fun for the whole family and easy on the wallet.

The fort puts you 250 years in the past. First visit the fine museum, with film, then visit the fort. It is based on the original blueprints and is completely accurate. The re-enactors are very knowledgeable and can answer most any question you may have. If you like history, this is a must.

Understanding how the first settlers lived with their French background. Guide's comment was very interesting.

The guide at the fort was very good - knew her info well. The check-in system probably needs some work, but we were also mixed into a larger group that seemed rather disoriented.

don't be put off as you pass by from the road in Natchitoches, all you see is the offices and entrance. Go through and walk up through to the fort itself where you are guided around by staff in period costume with lots of interesting stories. Not a huge area but the fort has been created very well and makes an... More

This is an excellent place to go learn a little history. My family enjoyed it. They have several special events throughout the year and it is definitely somewhere that you can get your kids out and let them enjoy a little history!

After driving around for a while without finding a place to park downtown, we were passing this place and decided to stop. It was about 4:30 and they closed at 5:00. We went in and was greeted nicely. They were getting ready to shut it down, but let us look around anyway. One of the employees took us down to... More

The guides in the main building were very enthusiastic about telling the history of Natchitoches and the Fort. Really made it worthwhile to get the information. We like history, and these people loved telling what they knew.

Start with the 15 minute film and then walk up to the reconstructed fort. Friendly people and an interesting way to spend an hour or two.
