Interesting, free for seniors but it would be great for children to see what a real fort looked like.
We were a little disappointed with the fort itself. Of course the buildings are replicas, but there is no information or detail available other than what is on the little map you get when paying. The one costumed guide at the fort was speaking with another couple the entire time we were there. The displays inside the museum, though, were... More
Touring Fort St. Jean Baptiste was an interesting experience. I'm not really one for places where they try and recreate the past, but I did find Fort Sating Jean Baptiste quite interesting a captivating. I think this is because one can see not only how things were crafted long ago on spinning wheels and black smith shops as is the... More
Its definitely a must see when in Natchitoches. Pricing was very amenable ($4 per person) and being open from Tues- Sat 9am-5pm works well. The outdoor interpretive guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately, i cannot say that for the folks at the Visitor's Center when we paid the admission. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the Visitor's center and its exhibits (make... More
Informative museum. Nicely landscaped site. Fort was authentic; too bad it was 100°...too hot to spend a lot of time there.
The fort is interesting, but the staff made this memorable. The interpretive guides were extremely informative and personable: I walked away with a deep appreciation of the important contribution the NW Louisiana region made to American history. Highly recommended!

Exhibits at the visitor's center are very educational and staff members are helpful and informative. My nephews liked the guides in period costumes who demonstrated how to fire a pistol and start a... More
This is a reproduction of a 1700s fort that was built with period tools and materials from original plans. It is an interesting look at frontier and military life in that era. The park includes both the reproduced fort and a visitor's center within easy walking distance of each other. Both were very well done. The exhibits and video at... More
