It has a lot of nice shops, the river is really nice and the Christmas lights were really festive. It is definitely a tourist town, because everything is overpriced.

What a great place to walk. Front street has so much charm. Be sure to cross over the street and walk down by the river. From old to new you should be able to find something you like.

Shopping in the downtown historic district is a pleasant little half-mile of boutiques, specialty shops, and a few restaurants, each with its own appeal. The boutiques can be pricey, but that's to be expected in a small shops in a tourist location. There are many unique finds to be had and the Southern hospitality of the shop ladies is always... This area had some of the best fall decorations we've seen anywhere. Every post or column had full cornstalks with corn on them, cotton plants with cotton bolls on them, and other fall items that were fantastic real decorations. Plus they have hanging baskets of beautiful flowers everywhere. The red brick streets are great and take you back to older... More

Natchitoches is a very quaint town. 300 years old this year. Plenty of shops and just fun to walk aroud and see the home and sights.

Loved walking along the river going in and out of the shops! Such a variety of shops for a small town. Really enjoyed going in to them and speaking with the owners. Everyone was so friendly.

Loved the shopping and especially the kitchen store. The problem is most shops do not open until ten.

I have visited the downtown shopping district three or four times over the years. Basically it's three to four good blocks long, together with a few attractions on two side streets. Without a doubt the class act among the stores is the gift shop Merci Beaucoup, owned by the mother of the guy who runs the restaurant next door by... More
