I grew up in Lafayette and was an alter boy at this church. I did not realize how beautiful and unique the architecture and interior artwork was until I left Lafayette and saw other famous churches of classic design. This church doesn't get the attention from art lovers that it deserves. This is a must see, If not for the... More

This is a must see Church! Unbelievably old trees in front and a serene Sanctuary. On top of that, the Cemetery to the rear is such a lovely, reverent place. We were very happy we stopped here! Also a nice gift shop!

I've had many opportunities to go to the Cathedral. I used go to early mass on Sunday, before I left town for business. Can you believe that they have a choir singing at 7 AM mass! My work has brought me all over the world, including Rome, where I've seen bigger, but none any more peaceful than St. John's! And... More

Beautiful Cathedral in South Louisiana. Located in Lafayette, La. Over 100 years old with a 100 year old Oak tree out front. A must see in Lafayette. Lived here all of my life and still enjoy visiting the Cathedral.

It is a beautiful cathedral with its cemetery. It is also very beautiful inside. The architecture is great and also outside the garden and that huge, old, historic tree, fantastic.

We were in Lafayette for the day and decided to visit the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist based on reviews on Trip Advisor. This church is truly a magnificent structure which includes several other buildings and a cemetery in the rear of the property. All are beautifully maintained and surely must be appreciated.

The cathedral built around 1920s is architecturally beautiful and located in a serene place in Lafayette, Louisiana. Beautiful ornamentation in the form of stained glass windows adorn the cathedral. A must visit place. We visited during the time of Sunday mass and as a result could not spend much time.

Stunning Cathedral Church! Is a gem hidden in the heart of the city. If you are not religious, you will be by the time you leave this church. It has walkways around the church with a huge, beautiful Oak Tree next to it. And Azalea bushes of all colors around the church. Perfect for getting married in!

This church was so beautiful and the tree was mighty to behold. Like something out of a fairy tale book. We stopped and saw it while on the Cajun food tour.
