Beautiful, historical grounds and church! One cannot help but have a feeling of reverence when entering. We attended a mass and were able to absorb the spiritual and physical beauty of this building. The grounds have a magnificent oak tree. Just seeing that is worth the visit!

I really liked the Cathedral! My favorite part was the gigantic really old live oak tree! I can’t wait to come back again!

The Cathedral is beautiful and if you have a tour with a guide it is much more informative. They used to a pamphlet for a self guided tour, not sure if they still do, look for it. The grounds are beautiful, the oak tree is very impressive and the cemetery is very old and interesting to walk around and see... More

St. John's is a pleasant, but small Cathedral, and a nice place to include in your tour. Frankly, more impressive is the St. John Oak just to the North of the Cathedral. Lafayette has it's own flavor and history that is a blend of Acadian, French, German, Indian, and Yankee. Just joking about the latter, but Lafayette has always been... More

I have been to many beautiful older building, but words just can't discribe how breath taking this Cathedral actually is. Pictures can not give you the feeling that you feel when walking in. If you are passing through the area, this is a must. Take an hour and see something amazing and breathtaking. There is also an old cemetery behind... More

We visited on a Sunday morning just after church got out. It is a beautiful building. the stained glass windows were impressive. We also visited the cemetery behind the Cathedral. We found it unusual to see the graves above ground. We enjoyed walking the peaceful grounds and reading the different tombstones.

There's not much to see in downtown Lafayette other than the bars, but you should take some time to see the Cathedral. Very beautiful...

I speak from a great deal of experience as I attended the Catholic school next to this cathedral from the 3rd grade through the 12th grade. In high school I was an altar boy at this church which is the home of the bishop of the Lafayette diocese. Many of my family members are buried in the cemetery behind the... More
