Ron "Black" Guidry, a Swamp original :-)

We first did a tour with him 15 years ago and since we were back for our son's 21st, we figured why not. Well, after a couple of "It's not a good day to go out", we managed to go... read more

We first did a tour with him 15 years ago and since we were back for our son's 21st, we figured why not. Well, after a couple of "It's not a good day to go out", we managed to go on our second last day in Louisiana. Same man, if a wee bit older and with in his words, "less... More

Definitely worth the drive out of New Orleans, the whole family enjoyed the ride and sights... "Black", the guide, provided an authentic touch to the ride on the bayou.

We went on this swamp tour as part of a group on a tour bus. If you are from another country and have never seen an alligator or a swamp, it might be OK. I agree with the comments about the guide being rude. It also was very canned. By that I mean, he has trained various alligators and an... More

We took this tour this morning with 16 others, all in town for a wedding. It was worth every penny. The guide is knowledgable and very entertaining. We learned a lot about the swamp, the oil industry, and animal life. Really impressed that he could "call" out his trained gators to come by the boat to be fed. Plus a... More

This is an enjoyable tour to see the Louisiana swamp from the safety of a boat! We saw lots of 'gators and a Bald Eagle up close. The captain also treated his passengers to some good old Cajun music with his homemade accordion and guitar. We heard some good Cajun songs and experienced a very enjoyable afternoon.

The Cajun Man does exist and his tour is realy worth. Precise explainations of the bayou's nature, a warm welcome and cajun songs, made this tour someyhing special. We also got explaination in french ( in cajun in fact). We saw alligators of course, a lot of birds, some tortles.

Let me preface this by saying, I did not attend this tour. I had called the day before and reserved a spot and camped close by. When we arrived, a store attendant told us he didn't think Guidry was going out and we better call him. It had rained the night before but the morning looked beautiful and promising. Upon... More

This is a great relaxing two hours in the swamp of southern Louisiana. A covered large "party barge" trolls the fresh water swamp while Mr. Black points out the local wildlife, flora and fauna. He has a wealth of knowledge about the area and provides interesting and humorous commentary. Mr. Black sang and played Cajun music to the delight of... More

We chose this tour b/c the day was stormy and a covered boat seemed like the best option. We saw TONS of alligators! So many we lost count! The guide, Black, also called down a bald eagle! He was knowledgable and the musical part of the tour was more entertaining than I expected.

We had originally scheduled with another swamp tour but our b&b host said Mr.Black was the besr. For $25/person it was a great deal. Start to finish was about 2 hours. Saw swamp, 5 alligators and learned about the oil rigs and gator hunting. He stopped and played his guitar and sang some Cajun music. Slow paced tour but kinda... More
