I was astounded to learn that the legal age to marry in Scotland is still 16 years of age. This may have been a very mature age back in the day, but can't believe this is still permitted today. The gift shop and surroundings were a great tribute to love and lovers.

Was looking forward to visiting Gretna Green Blacksmiths shop. The reality wasn't quite what I was expecting! It's highly commercial with a few shops and a cafe. We paid to do the tour of the museum and blacksmiths. It was a bit strange - if there's a wedding on you feel intrusive and bits are closed off. I don't do... More

Has toilets and is a bit different to a services. Gretna Green is now ticked off the to-go places and the shops are a pleasant wander with a range of souvenirs. The area is very commercialised. I can't comment on the museum as we didn't do it.

Took a coach holiday from Cornwall, stopped off at Gretna Green on the way up, must say, I was really disappointed at the commercialism of the place, they have done the same to this as they did to Lands End in Cornwall, in short, ruined it.

My wife and i recently visited the famous Blacksmiths shop. Overall the complex is diverse with a restaurant, food shop, nic nak shop and the museum and wedding venue. The staff were friendly and we had a very plesant trip. It of course is touristy and pricey as a result but not too bad.

Had a good look around, witnessed a weddinigparty being piped into the original Blacksmith's Shop. Lovely staff who followed us to inform us that we could quickly go into the original shop before the wedding Party came in and even took a Picture of us!

Interesting to see what all of the history of the place was. Well worth a visit just to put all of your misconceptions right.

This is worth a visit. It has lots to see & do. The museum has the history of the weddings through out the years. You also get to see & photgraph the famous anvil. There is a maze & lots of art works around to have a look at. The shops are well supplied with all sorts of goodies. Definitely... More

Museum staff made access with a wheelchair possible and then only charged for a disabled and carer. The site is small but lots to read and see. A wedding was taking place which made it seem more poignant.

I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to go in after seeing all the tour buses parked up in the Gretna Green complex. And it is a complex with numerous large gift shops, a large cafe, a centre courtyard (complete with piper) and the actual wedding museum itself. Despite all the people ,the place seemed to swallow...
