The old blacksmith shop was lovely and very interesting when you read all the display boards and letters that were on display. A good photo opportunity. However it was a lot smaller than we'd anticipated, surrounded by shops all trying to sell you something VERY expensive. The same can be said for the food too. Basically a coach stop on... More

Went to Gretna on a stay over in Carlisle. It's a very clean lovely place. Couldn't get in to a small part of it because the was a wedding going on. But we walked round the sculptures and in all the shops. Had a lovely morning.

Visited here for a wedding I was attending. I did not expect there to be more to see than just the wedding. Has a real lovely touch of Scotland, here. A lovely little place.

First time and we were impressed with the history of the place, there was even a guy in kilt and playing bagpipes excellent added to the atmosphere of the place, shops was a little expensive for some things but a really good selection of interesting gifts, clothing and whiskey's, lots of things to photograph and backgrounds for family photo opportunities.... Really nice to... More

The reality of this place was completely at odds with my idea of the runaway marriage location of historical romance novels. It was a busy tourist stop for purchasing scarves, hats, vacation keepsakes. It had a huge bathroom facility so the place must be very crowded in their high season.

We visited this attraction in March 2015. Unfortunately, because the "Summer Season" had not yet started it was very quiet. It is a very interesting little place but we were disappointed to find The Anvil appears to have been moved into the Cottage. Shops OK but rather expensive for the 'close season' café a little on the pricey side. Seems... More
