Stopped here out of curiousity on the way up to the north of Scotland. The Blacksmith Shop is designed for tourists and of course, caters for many weddings as well. If you can go there with that in mind, then you will be OK, ie expect high prices and cashing in on Gretna Green's history, coupled with a lot of... More

We came as a coach party on the way up through Scotland, using it as a resting point. The shops are there to draw you in and relieve you of cash and the quality of goods is very good hence the price tag. You can sample the whisky and have a tea/coffee. Toilets are free of charge. There are weddings... More

We went to The Famous Blacksmiths Shop because we were given a brass plate someone had bought from there years before and it interested us to see the history. I telephoned and spoke to a lovely gentleman called Frank and he told me about a special blessing they do called handfasting. We had this blessing the day after we married... More

We stopped in here quite by accident on our way through to Manchester. There was quite a selection of Scottish wares but prices were at a premium. The cafeteria was pretty poor but what horrified me was the unbelievable rudeness of the staff at this place. They were loud and obnoxious to one of my friends refusing the accept perfectly... More

We thoroughly enjoyed going round the museum which was very interesting and well set out. The souvenir was good but the rest of the area was extremely busy probably due to the arrival of some coaches.

For many years I have travelled between Scotland and England and Gretna Green has always been our favourite shopping centre. We always headed to the Blacksmiths Shop to get gifts and have been very pleased with the service we have received. On Saturday I called in at the Blacksmiths shop and bought some items.I was served by a friendly and... More

Stopped off here twice on the way to & from Scotland recently.Didn't go in the museum but enjoyed browsing through the shops & ate in the restaurant on both occasions.Had a large bowl of hearty soup with bread roll & butter for only £3.75.There is plenty of seating & a bar if you fancy a drink.Plenty of things to photograph,including... Very useful pit stop with the cleanest toilets but the food is overpriced and almost all sold out at the cafe by 4pm. The shops are progressing with plenty of choice and much improved over a vist made 20 years ago. Still way pricy though. If you want a bargain, don't shop here.

My mom and I went here while on Insight Vacation's Britain and Ireland Discovery 26-day tour. We were lucky enough to arrive when a wedding was happening. They had a horse-drawn wagon and they looked so happy. I don't think I would get married with a bunch of strangers, but to each his own. The bagpiper was amazing! We had... More

We were lucky that there weren't any weddings so we were able to wander around the place. The anvil and the historical figures who had been in the room -- or had written about Gretna, was really interesting.
