We lucked out & got Judy as our tour guide. She is a large lady with a sharp to the point sense of humor. At one point in one of the rooms in the house, she sat down at the panio and belted out a song. She was so good we bought her CD at the gift shop. Judy keeps... More

This was an amazing day, Sandy is so entertaining. If you're in the area, this is a must do activity. The gift shop is brilliant and the gardens are beautiful. Really worthwhile visit.

We read about the plantation in a local guidebook that was in our hotel. After a few days in NOLA, we were ready to see something new. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting much, just another tourist trap. Boy, was I wrong! We ended up spending the entire day there and still feel like there was more to see.... More

We drove through on our way to another destination and wanted to see another plantation so chose this one. We were not disappointed. The grounds were very nice and had a lot of landscaping and lawn ornaments and sculptures. There were three restaurants that were highly rated but we did not have time to visit. They also had overnight cottages... More

Ms Guide (forgot her name) in a sheering period dress offered us an entertaining tour within and outside the house. There are many antique furnishings and art within this home’s 16 glorious rooms. The gardens are breath-taking. I don't mind having this kind of house. LOL. Great!

Our tour of this plantation was exceptional. The guide, Gabby, was informative, friendly, and very professional. This is not too far from Laura Plantation and well worth the visit. The grounds are wonderfully decorated, the mansion is full of beautiful antiques, and the trees and flowers are gorgeous.

This was our first visit to a Louisiana plantation. Everyone we know here recommended Houmas House, and we are so delighted we chose to spend our one day devoted to plantations at this one. Here's our perfect day: 10am Arrive at Houmas House, which is about an hour's drive from New Orleans. Buy ticket for house and gardens ($24, children... More

I've visited most of the Louisiana plantation house and gardens, and Houmas gardens are lovely, no matter what time of year. The garden is comparatively small and formal. Christmastime is spectacular, but even in the heat of summer, it is worth visiting. It's not a bad drive from Baton Rouge off I-10 and south down to River Road. There are... More
