The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because we didn't see the whole thing. We only toured the gardens which was $10 each but worth the money. We didn't tour the house because I am handicapped and would be able to see much of it anyway. The garden are quit beautiful with a variety of vegetation, lovely... More

Let me start by saying that this tour was fun and interesting. The grounds themselves are stunning, and there is a lot of interesting things that I learned while on the tour of the old mansion. The history of the building is mainly all they tell you but they left out all of the history of slavery. I thought this... More

The planation and tour has to be the best of the tour we have taken. The history as presented by our period-clad guide was detailed and enriching. Other tours we good, notably Oak Alley and Nottaway being the best of the rest, but Houmas House is in a class by itself. The grounds were the best kept and the gardens... More

A nice day trip for me living in Baton Rouge. Great gift shop, beautiful gardens (bring your camera) and delicious drinks and food in their restaurant. Since we were celebrating a birthday and having lunch on my first visit, I've not be able to take a tour of the house yet, but plan to do that on my next visit.

We love the plantation so much, we visit Houmas House every year! (Have been seeing the changes/improvements since it opened.) There is always something new to see and enjoy. We invite friends, who travel with us, to see what we love about New Orleans and environs. If you show an appreciation for the history of the place, you may get... More

There is nothing to NOT love about this property. The beautifully furnished cottages, high end amenities, staff, food and gardens will put you into such a feel good state you know you're on vacation. I first visited years ago and can't stay away! Weather it's a romantic weekend, friends reunion, birthday, wedding, etc. I'm never disappointed. My last stop is... More

This is by far my favorite plantation tour. The grounds are magnificent, and the house has a fascinating history told delightfully by the tour guides. I take everyone that comes to visit me here and still learn new things that I had not discovered before. The Turtle Bar makes a perfect mint julep. I highly recommend making a visit to... More

The Houmas House is lovely and so full of history. Our guide Susan(blonde) was both informative and entertaining. She knew the house from top to bottom!! We enjoyed her immensely. The gardens are spectacular with so many different plants to see, butterflies flashing by and birds singing. We enjoyed our overnight stay and would go back again with a big... More

We stopped here on our way from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. We paid for a tour of the house and were the only ones on it. We had an interesting tour and our guide, Susan shared some interesting information with us. It would have been good to be able to get a cup of tea at the end but... More
