This place is such a nice area is South Louisiana. I have been here a few times, and it is so peaceful out there. There is a rookery for anyone who loves bird watching. There are a few trails for those who like to hike, but my wife and I had a really great time kayaking the swamp of Lake... More

Very cool lake with swamp alongside. A variety of wildlife can be seen here, birds of all sorts, gators, turtles, frogs, insects,... very cool. You can take a guided boat tour, or rent kayaks or bring your own and put it in at the boat ramp. Not sure if the fishing is great, but there were people there giving it... More

We had a tour of the swamp led by Alan, and it was one of the most fantastic experiences of our trip. No alligators (apart from a baby one of ridiculous size!) but fantastic birds and vegetation. Alan was kind, professional and competent - and good fun as well. Super!

Lake Martin is where Champagne Swamp tours are located. I wrote a review on it. The swamp itself is amazing. The wild life is right there. You could reach out an touch it. Gators, Nutria rats, birds, turtles and a snake once in awhile! Cyprus trees that are 1000 years old still stand. You will learn how they were harvested for... More

I frequent the lake. The main complaints I have would be those who dump trash in and around the lake, travel too fast on the dirt road, and those who feed the alligators. The place is so wonderful, it is disheartening to see how some people simply have no respect for nature. I cannot understand this...

We went for a nice walk through the swamp area. It was really nice with a wooden walkway with rails. We did not see any alligators but did see lots of birds. After we left the walkway and drove down the road, there was an alligator sticking its head out of the water so we got a nice close look... More

On Saturday, July 11, 2015, I went on a boat tour in Lake Martin. What a beautiful sight. Allen was my boat captain. He is from the area and was very interesting.

We got cut short by lightening and even so it was a great value. It was a calm ride good for infants to elderly, with good clean humor, and accurate ecological information of interest.

Loved scenery, but boat tours of 2 hours is too long in sweltering South LA weather. Spied alligators and many roosting birds.
