There are only 2 or 3 commercial outfits running on Lake Martin. The others should be closed. These guys 'own' this lake and the surrounding swamps. They have lived there for generations, grew up as boys tromping through the backwaters and corners. One leaves with a sense of being priviledged that they shared their favorite place in the world with... More

This is the third trip we've taken with these fine folks. Mr. Walter "Butch" Guchereau is a walking, talking encyclopedia on everything swamp! We had friends visiting from Nebraska and Kansas who were awed by what they saw and learned about this part of the world. On THIS trip we saw many species of wading birds, Tupelo and giant cypress... We booked this trip several weeks before the fact. When we got to LA. it was pouring rain and didn't think we would get to go. Got a call letting us know it was cancelled but would get another call if it was possible to do it. Sure enough they called us and said they would attempt to go per... More

Shawn led our boat tour (and his Dad is equally as good per feedback I received). He is a life-long resident of the area and demonstrated a high knowledge of the bajou and a great respect for the environment. It was suggested we start early due to anticipated rain but when the rain didn't come the tour was extended by... More

We opted for the Cajun tour from the recommendations from Trip Advisor, and we were glad we did. Shaun our guide, who runs the tour with his father was brilliant. This is not the all singing and dancing tour , being sensationalised for the tourist. This is educational. We did get to see alligators, turtles, snakes and the local birds,... More

5 of us took this tour on Thanksgiving day and we were NOT disappointed: the guide was knowledgeable and fun. French speakers could take that tour anytime, our guide could speak cajun French without pretense. Scenery and light were wonderful. Only saw one alligator, but that is OK, there was much more to see and enjoy! Would recommend anytime! Also... More

I had read previous reviews and decided to try out Cajun Country Swamp Tours. I called to see if there would a tour available the afternoon that we would be in Lafayette. Fortunately we were able to arrive just in time for the last tour leaving at 3:00pm. It was such a wonderful experience with Shawn, our knowledgeable and environmentally... More

This tour was amazing. The drive in beautiful in itself with plenty of places to stop off to take pictures so go early or have time at he end to do that. Shawn knew so much about the area and nature, even when we didnt see much he was able to point out things and talk about things I didnt... More

I had a fantastic time on this swamp tour! Lake Martin is beautiful, and Shawn knew an impressive amount about the area and everything we saw on the lake. He was funny and really made the drive from Baton Rouge worth it. Don't miss their tour!

Knowledgeable guide took us on a 2 hour boat tour. I was surprised at how beautiful the swamp was. We saw MANY alligators and birds. Nice that this tour is very eco conscious.
