I have 2 teenagers now, but when they were little this zoo was such a wonderful place for us to spend the day! We have incredible memories of the sweet animals, nice shady areas, fun playground, and GREAT hamburgers in the little restaurant. In fact, I took my teenagers recently as a surprise outing and when we pulled up they... More

Great zoo for little kids. My 3 and 2 yr old loved the train ride, it was a great length and worth the extra money. The animals seem better cared for than some of the other Louisiana zoos. It would be nice if there were fewer empty exhibits. The play area for kids is fantastic, it almost worth the visit... More

We are a family of 14 and we love zoos. There is no better zoo that we know of for the price. The layout of this zoo is beautiful and tranquil. The animals are active and actually appear happy. This is the only zoo I've ever visited where I really heard the daddy lion ROOOOOAAAAAARRR! It was incredible and unforgettable.... More

It is sort of out of the way for many in the Parish, however it is worth an occasional visit. We are in the midst of a controversy as to whether to move the zoo, but with the growth it is hard to imagine locating a sizable tract that would not adversely impact the zoo's ability to service the community.

We came here in March after just moving to the area. We were so excited to have something close to us after having lived in a very remote area before. There was hardly any animals to see and the ones that were there were all inside having their cages cleaned. Maybe we just came on the wrong day but it... More

The grounds of the zoo are wonderful. Lots of mature trees and shade. Proud of the Baton Rouge-born Malaysian twin tiger cubs. Enjoyed the bird area, talking parrot and flamingoes. A little disappointed the otters no longer have a water slide where they can cavort and show off their tricks. Habitats are clean and well tended.

This is a nice zoo, although smaller than what I'm use to, still worth seeing. The food in the cafe's is good and reasonably priced, although the drinks are not. Enjoyed the peacocks roaming freely.

It's a nice but small zoo and would be best for younger children. Teens and older kids would probably not be too impressed compared to much larger zoo's. It's good for about a 2-3 hour outing and then we like to ride the train just before we leave. It is just north of Baton Rouge and will require about a... More
