A bit off the beaten path to be considered "Baton Rouge", but then that's the point o' any adventure! Lots o' free parking and a great walk through the many distinct areas setup for different regions. Good selection o' animals - feathered, furry and otherwise - as well as some amusing invaders (squirrels have the run o' the place and... More

We have been on several different days, and several different times. Either the animals are missing or asleep, but usually missing. There have been so many empty exhibits for years. I really don't understand the revenue that keeps this zoo open. If you are looking for somewhere to take your smaller child(ren) under the age of 4, they'll probably enjoy... More

Stopped in Monday 04/20/15 to stretch legs. Average small city zoo - no big interactive displays or research plants. But if you want a good pleasant afternoon without being oversold and pushed through the gift shop, this serves.

I remember days of my childhood when Buckskin Bill and all his children viewers helped to collect pennies for Penny the Elephant and numerous trips there as a child, then a youth and it has been some decades, but my recently trip there brought back many childhood memories. Many improvements were made and the areas is quite beautiful and well... More

This has to be one of, if not, the most under-valued thing to do in Baton Rouge on Trip Advisor. It is great entertainment for the money at $8/adult and with free parking. We spent a little over 3 hours here. It was well maintained, contained a variety of animals, and had snack stand options. Don't be foolish and check... More

A hidden gem, don't go here expecting the Bronx zoo, but it is a very manageable size, just right for a few hours of relaxation and with a lot of variety. The admission rates are reasonable, and although the food could be a little better (usual public place junk food), the other visitors seemed content.

Our zoo is the coolest! Kids and adults alike enjoy interacting with the animals. Every year at Halloween local corporations set up candy booths to provide local kids a chance for safely trick-or-treat. We go every year. Our kids love it!

The zoo was nice, but it wasn't the greatest. It could have a lot more potential. We took our time taking pictures. It took about 3 hours to walk through it. There were not as many animals as I would have thought we would have seen. Lots of birds & monkeys. Price to get in was good, although only children... More

We decided to go to the Baton Rouge Zoo since it was one of the few attractions actually open on a Monday. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the zoo. We saw many animals that we had never seen before in other zoos. The park was very clean and the employees were extremely welcoming. It is also a... More

We used to bring our children here often when they were small. It was a great place to get them out and expose them to different animals. Over the years the zoo has fallen into disrepair and seems neglected. I know the newest manager is trying to revive it. The new tiger exhibit is a great example of that.
