Old zoo, not planned well, A few good exhibits, a great playground for children and really good tiger habitat, My kids like riding on the train and the petting zoo.

I knew that this zoo wasn't going to be huge, but there were a lot of exhibits that only had one animal from the species. It was pretty depressing to see some of these animals in complete isolation. It's probably a good zoo for children, but adults will probably be aware of the conditions the animals are in.

The zoo is not that big, but it is pretty nice. The older parts can use some refurbishment, but that is pretty common for most zoos. The newer sections are done really well. The tiger area is beautiful and just a pleasant place to view the amazing animals. They have two young cubs in the one area and they were... More

We drive from Houston to Disneyworld and back at least once a year. Now that we have little kids, we stretch out the drive 2 1/2 to 3 days. This zoo has become one of our favorite stops. We bring the girls here for a few hours in the morning. They get worn out and are quiet for a few... More

I went with my adult daughter to show her around you can't beat the admission price. It's very low for what they have around. The new tiger cubs are beautiful and it's their one year birthday! The birds were very talkative this particular day and the otters were a blast to watch. I know we went on one of the... More

We did a day trip with the family and grandchildren and we had such a great time. They (grandkids) are still talking about it today.

Likes: Ease of free parking, Friendly staff, lots of maps to guide you through the trails of the park, lots of restrooms in the park, the train ride, Nice variety of animals. About half of the exhibits are open field/range or glass wall viewing. Dislikes: Several of the exhibits are layered with small hole fence and mesh. It is hard... More

I have 2 teenagers now, but when they were little this zoo was such a wonderful place for us to spend the day! We have incredible memories of the sweet animals, nice shady areas, fun playground, and GREAT hamburgers in the little restaurant. In fact, I took my teenagers recently as a surprise outing and when we pulled up they... More

Great zoo for little kids. My 3 and 2 yr old loved the train ride, it was a great length and worth the extra money. The animals seem better cared for than some of the other Louisiana zoos. It would be nice if there were fewer empty exhibits. The play area for kids is fantastic, it almost worth the visit... More
