Here we are, once again, at the Whitehaven Welcome Center. Pristine clean. Very welcoming. 51 seniors descended upon this center on our way to the Canadian Rockies and then back again to Tennessee. This is the very best center! Personnel are gracious and cannot do enough for travelers no matter where they are from. Thanks to all of you who... More

Although this location is also a museum (which is why we went out of our way to visit), the tour was only offered at 2:00 or 2:30, and only if two or more staff was present. Seems like a waste to have the facility if it can't be shared.

Great staff, tours start at 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Plenty of local attractions information and everything is clean.

Beautiful antebellum home that was in a state of terrible decay transformed into a visitors center. To truly appreciate the restoration, one would have had to have seen White Haven beforehand. Literally in shambles, it was a tragic sight. I can remember passing it while traveling and my mother would always say what a shame it was to let such... More

I just love this welcome center. A piece of history. We stop in on every trip we make through the area.

It is hard to calculate how many times we have stopped at Whitehaven. Even though we have been there several times, each time it seems to beckon us.

This is technically a 'rest stop' but unlike any other. The restored mansion is a gem. Well worth the time and tour.

This may be an awesome side trip for the family on vacation but a pain for the traveler trying to get somewhere. For a quick rest stop a gas station would be faster.

We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you to stop at Whitehaven Welcome Center. The home was built during the Civil War and was to be torn down in 1980. In lieu of building a brand new welcome center/rest area near the Illinois and Kentucky state line, the State of Kentucky bought the mansion, renovated and restored it,... More
