Bottom line: zoos suck. The really disturbing piece is always the primates. Here is no different. The lowland gorillas get as far away from the people as possible. The orangutans are only on the other side of a piece of glass. Some idiot is always slapping at the glass and the animals are very disturbed. Disturbed is the right word... More

Whenever I have a free day in the Louisville area I like to visit the zoo. The exhibits are well done and well maintained. I especially enjoy the Polar Bear exhibit. Lots of walking and lots of animals to enjoy. For those who do not object to having animals in captivity this is a great place to spend a day.

The zoo opens at 10am, but they'll let you in to the courtyard around 9:30. A few of the enclosures were closed due to remodeling but the setup is walking and stroller friendly with feeding times for the bears, which was neat to watch. Nice water park for the kids too. I would advise getting their early so you get... More

I love animals, and the Louisville Zoo is one of my favorite places in Kentucky. There are so many different kinds of animals, food options, and gift shops. I have visited the Zoo not only on special occasions such as birthdays, but during business visits as well.

Though there's always a portion of the zoo under renovation, it's starting to see the results with great habitats and a great diversity of animals. Polar bears, 2 kinds of tigers, a clean smelling gorilla house and habitat, and even a ropes course. I comment about the cleanliness because the ape house at the Smithsonian Zoo in DC smelled like... Great zoo! We loved visiting the wonderful Zoo in Louisville, KY. Great place for someone to take their family. We went on a very hot day so, some of the animals were hiding in the shade. We still had a great time.

Yes, it is my hometown zoo and it is awesome. Animal habitats are new, nearly new or being redone. The splash park is always a hit when it is warm and there are two playground for the kids too. There are always zoo educators and other employees around to answer questions and provide directions. My only gripe is they should... More

My 2 year-old grandson, son & daughter-in-law, visited Louisville and I took them to the zoo because it is the perfect place for all ages. We had a wonderful time. It's clean and easy to navigate. There's a petting zoo for the little one, indoor and outdoor animals to see, and "themed" areas to make everything more interesting and fun.... More

Admittedly the Louisville Zoo is not as spectacular as San Diego, Chicago or Pittsburgh but for a city the size of Louisville it is a pretty top notch place to visit. We have a wide variety of exhibits and the gorilla habitat is extremely well done. It is also located very close to the Mega Caverns and would make for... More
