I bought a zoo pass for the 2009 season. The Louisville Zoo is convenient to my home and offers more entertainment for my 19 month old son than just touring around town or going to the park. This is by no means the best zoo that I have visited (and I have been to MANY). However, it wasn't a dissappointment... more

For the first time we visited the Louisville Zoo. I was so totally awed by the attractions and the displays. We say and albino alligator , I hav never in my life seen or knew an albino alligator even existed. We then visited the elephants and they had a baby one that was only a few days old. The care... more

The zoo was a bit disappointing. Now it's completely possible that our cranky 2 y/o and the heat clouded our opinion, but it was not very impressive. One issue we had was that when you take the walking tour you end up not being able to "escape" quickly, you have to go the whole route. And that whole route includes... more

We visited this zoo at the end of a heavy thunderstorm. They told us at the gate that the outdoor animals had been taken in. Some we did not get to see but most were out by the time we went past them. The layout, the explanation and description boards, the enclosures, the building were all quite impressive. We saw... more

We have been to about 10 zoos and this one is just as enjoyable as the Cincy and Columbus Zoos. The water play area for children is an excellent stop at near the midpoint of the zoo trail. Many animals have great photo areas unlike some zoos. The merry-go-round and train rides add to the zoo experience but are not... more

The louisville zoo is in my opinion probably the best most affordable place to take children. The animals exhibits and new small water spray park make for a lovely day trip , lots of picnic areas and a really surprising array of animals large and small. I have been to many many zoos and i would rate this among the... more

When we first arrived the zoo looked small (from the small parking lot) but inside I was pleasantly surprised. Although a lot of the animal habitats are small (giraffes, rhinos, gazelles, lion, etc.) some of the others were very nice and large. There were a couple animals that are very rarely seen in zoos, and I can't remember their names now.... more

The Zoo itself was great. They have a nice variety of animals and much to our surprise several playgrounds and a waterpark for the kids! They have a tram (for getting around the zoo quickly), and train (for seeing animals the easy way), and a huge carousel with traditional horses and some zoo animals (which remain stationary.) and several very... more

So, my mother whom is disabled and can only walk short distances, my husband and 3 year old (in a stroller) visited the zoo for the first time today. I called them yesterday to check into reserving a motorized wheelchair and enquire that the chair would make it all the way through the zoo----i was ensured it would no problem.... more

We have visited over 50 zoos nationally and have built up some real time experience to base our review on. Louisville honors the Zoo card and granted us free admission. The Zoo is large – be prepared to walk. For people who want to get out and stretch their legs this is perfect. The gorilla enclosure is quite large and... more
