We took the exit off the interstate that indicated that's where Old Town Louisville was. After we exited - nothing. There were no signs indicating places of interest or historical significance. You just drive around until you end up in an area where you probably shouldn't be. Don't exit!!

We stayed in a bed and breakfast in Old Louisville across from Central Park. I read about all of the old homes so I decided to explore the area. I walked for blocks admiring the architecture and gardens. My favorite street was St. James Court. I felt like I was in Mary Poppins at the Banks house in London. At... More

A truly unique neighborhood with a variety of houses and a nice museum. You won't feel like you are anywhere in the United States when you are in the heart of the neighborhood.

Reminscent of Cleveland, and a cross between Savannah, GA and Milwaukee, WI. Gorgeous turn of the century architecture and large, stately homes on wide avenues. I toured in March. I bet it's absolutely beautiful a month from now during Spring. Given more time, I would take a walking tour. 610 Magnolia is a wonderful dining experience not too far.

Old Louisville is not a safe place to visit as it was in the pass. On South 4th Street there are many thugs, prostitutes, drug pushers hanging out onthe street. At the 100 year old Puritan Hotel now apartments many acoholics and drug dealers hang outside the building. Do walk alone from South 4th Street south ward to the U.of L. campus.... More

I reviewed this fantastic place before, but since then the Visitor's Center has moved from Fourth Street to the middle of Central Park Right in the middle of the neighborhood. Many more homes have been restored and the new visitors center is greatly improved, and even the Old Louisville "App" has been updated. Commenting on the only " less than... More

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. When you walk around St James Court and Belgrave Court it is like taking a trip back in time. The homes and architecture are outstanding. Bring a camera, you won't be disappointed.
