This cemetery is huge, it is one of the best cemeteries I've been too. My main reason to come was to see Colonel Sanders gravesite but we spent more time looking at all the other stones. The entrance to the cemetery is fantastic. There is a spring by the pond.

Never seen a cemetery like this back at home. Surprisingly it didn't feel the least bit depressing, being at a cemetery and all. Also Colonel Sanders' grave is a must see! Couldn't find the "Jesus is my swingset" grave, though.

The grounds are well kept. It is very nice for a stroll. There are plenty of hungry geese and ducks. Just be careful of the aggressive geese. The cemetery does have limited hours so always check to be sure it is open when you go.

A beautiful cemetery with lots of Kentucky history. I'm a bourbon fan and finding the sites of legends such as Pappy Van Winkle, WL Weller, Stitzel, Beam and Brown made for an interesting day.

People wonder why anyone would go to the cemetery, but this is also a registered botanical park. It is beautiful! And the interesting people and history you will find here will keep you wandering for hours. Make a stop at the office for a map. Go to the pond to watch the swans. And make sure you go through here... More

Yes, it is a cemetery. But, it is also a national arboretum with beautiful landscaping and wonderful architecture. The expansive grounds (600 acres?) contain a union burial ground, a confederate burial ground, rolling hills, a lovely lake and nearly two centuries of Louisville's most illustrious departed. Graves are marked with everything from simple stone to elaborate monuments. Some of the... More

This is a beautiful and historic cemetery that feels more like a park. Also got to pay respects to Colonel Sanders. The cemetery is a bit hard to navigate but there was a very helpful and knowledgeable attendant at the front gate who gave expert directions.

It was an afterthought, recommended by the waitress at Harvest Restaurant, but my friend and I were so glad we visited! Stunning specimens of trees complemented the beautiful, sculptural headstones at this beautiful property – not to be missed! And yes, we saw the headstone of Col. Sanders.

A beautiful spot near Downtown Louisville, Cave Hill Cemetery contains graves of the Civil War dead to the present. Colonel Harland Sanders (founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken) is buried here, along with other major figures. Some of the headstones are artworks in themselves. Don't miss the beautiful lake with the swans and other birds. A must-see for out-of-towners and locals... More
