A must-see for anyone with an interest in funeral architecture, or for times when you just want a quiet peaceful place to reflect.

Cave Hill Cemetery is part of the tradition of large, park-like cemeteries that provide a tranquil and beautiful resting place. Monuments from before the Civil War onward abound and draw the eye, attesting silently to Louisville's history and culture. A central lake anchors the park, and monuments ranging from grand carven statues to carven rocks to benches abound. Make sure... More

Great place to visit to clear your thoughts and to honor past generations. Tremendous amount of history also.

I was amazed at how big the cemetery was, probably several hundred acres right in the city. Beautifully landscaped, gorgeous statuary, gentle rolling hills. There is a lake near the center with geese, swans and ducks. Some of the monuments are just stunning- like a huge domed, Greek temple style thing with columns that I saw.

Interesting place to visit. You can call their office and get a walking tour. Col Sanders of KFC is buried there among other individuals you would recognize.

This cemetery is incredibly beautiful. I have been coming here since I was a child, if only to feed the ducks at one of the lakes. You can explore and never see the same thing twice.

I have been to Cave Hill Cemetery more than once. It's a great place to visit whether a resident of Louisville or a visitor to the area. Not only will one find markers from all periods, a visitor can also see the burial places of some well know people such as Col. Harland Sanders (the originator of Kentucky Fried Chicken).... More

I have a son-in-law buried at Cave Hill, and his funeral was the 1st time I had ever been there. It is a beautiful place. Lush landscaping, and well maintained. Col. Sanders is buried here as well.
