I believe the cemetery opened in 1848. Very picturesque and of course free. It's the burial place of Colonel Sanders if you are interested. Tip: they do have guided tours from time to time. Historical Civil War Tours are offered by a local historian in the fall and spring. Great place for photo shoots. Near the Highlands restaurant corridor and... More

I know it seems weird to bring out of town guests to a Cemetery to walk around and explore, but on a nice day in Louisville, this is a great destination for an interesting walk. It is almost like a botanical garden with many interesting native trees and plantings, and the tombstones are a fascinating walk through Louisville history with... More

A gem of Louisville and a tribute to the Victorian habit of creating cemeteries to be much like well laid out parks. History is alive here from the graves of local celebrities to the graves of America's heroes who rest side by side in the National Cemetery area.

Lots of famous people are buried here with interesting headstones. Beautiful in spring with dogwoods and azaleas.

We stopped here while on the City Taste Tour and were amazed at how beautiful the grounds are kept. It is filled with rolling hills, winding roads, and beautiful natural landscaping and trees. It reminded us of Arlington cemetery. Anyone interested in history should make this a stop while in Louisville.

One of my favorite places to drive thru or even stroll through during the fall and spring. Not only is it very scenic, but I love looking at the various kinds of monuments. It also has a historical resting area for the brave souls who lost their lives defending our freedom. Well worth the time to drive thru

Cave Hill Cemetery is the Final Resting Place of Many Famous People. The cemetery has many unusual and ornate monuments. There are many Angels, a magician and sculptures of the in-tered. It is the final Resting Place of Colonel Sanders of the fast food chicken fame. There is a larger than life sized bust of him at his gravesite. The... More

Beautiful historic cemetery with lovely plantings, trails and statuary. Many historic Kentuckians, especially Louisvillians are buried here along with everyday folks. It is serenely beautiful.
