Part of our bourbon trail, my sister and I stopped in at Makers Mark, Beautiful - but so many buildings, highly highly commercialized , large disappointment when we went to check in, the gal was so rude - B word comes to mind, at which point after my sister and I had already stopped at 4 distilleries on the tour... We took something of a detour to visit this distillery on our way from Louisville to Lexington - thank goodness we did as the tour was really excellent. Laura was both amusing and knowledgable - and dipping your own bottle at the end was the icing on the cake!

This is a standout on the trail. Very interesting, great tour guide and of course the tasting was the highlight. The grounds were beautiful and the staff were friendly and very proud of their product. Really enjoyed our visit, they have gone out of their way to show how their product is made and packaged

Definitely a must see if you are driving through Kentucky!! Charming, beautifully kept old fashioned distillatory and surrounding grounds. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable, tour itself was wonderful and at the end if you purchase any of the Maker's Mark bottles you get to dip them yourself in wax! And, all the Maker's Mark whisky is produced here!! There's... More

Maker's Mark distillery is off the beaten path, but well worth the drive through the Kentucky countryside. The tour is educational and takes you through the entire bourbon making process and distribution (yes, you even get to see them dip the bottles in the famous red wax). Each bottle is made at this facility. You end with a tasting of... More

We were on the Bourbon Trail and visited many distilleries we were so looking forward to seeing this one and were so disappointed. The person who checked us in was unfriendly didn't ask my husband if he was an Ambassador and when my husband asked if ambassadors received any special recognition he was ignored on the tour we saw someone... A group of 8 of us took the tour & tasting. It lasted about 2 hours total. The history of the distillery is cool. The place is beautiful and spread out across many old buildings. Group sizes are way too big, in my opinion. In some buildings, we were crammed in and it was hard to see and hear the... More
