It is one-of-a-kind. The play all the best movies (including ones that no other theater in town is showing), they serve alcohol, and the theater itself is gorgeous. You won't find service like this at any other theater. More

The Kentucky Theater is an absolute gem in Lexington. Not only do they show great independent films, but also classics. They feature some great musicians as part of the Troubadour Series and the taping of an internationally-broadcast radio show called Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour (a grass roots, one hour radio show featuring everything from bluegrass to blues, jazz to mountain... This is the movie epicenter of Lexington. The theatre is worth seeing even without a movie event. Go see any movie just to experience the place. My mom worked there and met my dad in the 40's. More

This movie is privately owned and not like any other theater in the south. The serve beer and wine, have great homemade popcorn and excellent chocolate selection rather than regular movie theater junk! More

This theater is one of the originals. Sometimes they even still have the organ player playing before a movie. It's reasonable ticket prices and concessions are really the part that are the biggest throwback. Not many places you can still see a current movie and get popcorn for these prices. They also sell beer and wine so thats a bonus! More

This is a historical theater that makes it a great venue to watch independent movies. In addition, I prefer to watch UK games here. They are free and family friendly w the biggest screen in the town. Oh one more... this movie theater also hosts the WoodSongs Old Time radio Show every monday. I highly recommend you to visit. Great... More

The Kentucky Theater is one of those magical, grand old theaters with a huge screen, domed roof & plenty of character. They serve great snacks (including wine & beer) and are reasonably priced. Forget the chains; head to the Kentucky where you're more likely to see some of the more interesting films out! More
