As experienced horse fans who have visited dozens of race tracks and horse farms, the Thoroughbred Center was not what we were looking for. At $15, it doesn't measure up to free morning programs at Saratoga, Monmouth Park or, especially, Keeneland.

We were surprised to learn that at any one time there could be up to 1,000 horses training here! They put you on a van, and show you this massive operation. You sometimes get to speak directly with one of the trainers. If you have any interest in racing at all, this is a must see in Lexington.
I've used the Thoroughbred Center for large, facilitated public meetings. We had a very good experience there.
If you want to see how thoroughbreds are stabled and trained, this will make for an interesting side trip. Getting there will take you through the fabled rolling hills of Kentucky with the fences that go on for miles. A highlight was a visit with trainer Mike Cameron. We decided on this horse farm since they offered a morning tour. This gave us the chance to see the end of the workouts at trackside and talk to the exercise riders. The guide was informative. We were also taken into one of the barns where the owner gave us a personal tour and answered many questions. A wonderful experience.
This was an informative and exciting attraction. My guide was wonderful, had plenty of information to share, and went out of her way to have a trainer talk to our group. The trainer also brought out one of his horses and let us all take pictures and pet him. A must for any horse lover.
The guide was knowledgable, friendly, and the tour was great. My only complaint was that we couldn't just stay all day. :). Just being that close to such beautiful and powerful animals was really moving. It's hard to describe how it feels for them charge by during their workout. You just have to go and see for yourself! Also, from...

A shuttle bus takes you to track side where you can spend time on the rail watching and photographing horses during their morning workouts. Guide was friendly and answered any questions we had. Exercise riders cooling their horses...

This tour was awesome! It is the second year in a row we did this. Each was a little different. But we all thoroughly enjoyed the information we received, the training info and being able to stand up right at the rail to see these magnificent animals in action. The little store was also very nice. I went away with...
