Our fun and informative horse farm tours (approximately 3 hours in length) take you through the heart and soul of Kentucky's beautiful blue grass horse country. Drive by, see and hear the history of Calumet horse farm, home of a breeding and racing dynasty that dominated the sport of kings during the 1940s, 1950s and beyond. Step out and enjoy a walking tour of the ivy-covered grounds of historic Keeneland Race Course, home to the planet's most expensive horse auctions. Take a peek at the thoroughbred horse lifestyle as we take you behind the scenes to explore a premier thoroughbred horse farm and visit up close and personal with their famous horses. We'll even see where scenes from the major motion pictures Secretariat, Seabiscuit and Dreamer were filmed. « less

Tour was educational as we had a lot to learn about thoroughbreds. Tour guide Larry was adequate. Tour could use a bit more pizzazz.

Hi D. Lopes, I am sorry that your experience was not great. I am the owner and I also did this tour. I felt that you truly enjoyed the tour so I felt bad when I read the review. I will try to put more pizzazz in future tours. This was my first rating below 5 stars. Larry More

In my never-to-be-humble opinion, to attempt to get a legitimate understanding of Lexington horse farm on one's own would be futile at best. We left with a depth and breadth of information we would not have had otherwise. The difference-maker was Thoroughbred Tours and our guide Dan. We were picked up promptly in the company van. Dan soon announced to... More

Geography, history, biology, sociology -- it's all there, packed into three-and-a-half hours in the heart of beautiful, picture-book horse country. We learned more about the thoroughbred industry than we ever imagined. Our driver, Dan, obviously knows his subject and is passionate about sharing it -- everything from the "courtship" rituals to burial, and everything about the horses' lives in between.... More

We do a lot of tours and travel frequently, so, believe us when we say this is one of the best tours we've ever taken. Our "tour guide" or, better said, our "expert" was Nicholas Newman and he and his brother actually own a thoroughbred farm and are managers/trainers. He explained he was not a "tour guide" but rather someone... More

We were in Lexington last week for the KHSAA boys basketball tournament. We happened upon this tour's brochure in our hotel lobby. We have previously visited other horse tours in the area. This tour is the best in Lexington. We had a great tour with Dan. We visited Rose Hill Farm and Magdelena Farms, and Keeneland. It was great to... More

My husband and I were looking for something to do while visiting Lexington for the weekend, despite snow in the forecast. We happened upon a brochure for the tour; honestly tours are not high on our lists of things to do but we decided to give it a try. I called and spoke to Larry, he was very gracious and... More

If you are in Lexington KY you must take this tour. Whether you know alot about thoroughbreads and racing or not much (like me) you will love this tour. Dan was our tour guide an dhe was very knowledgeable, had a great speaking voice and presence and was fun and friendly. The horses are beautiful and the scenes picturesque. Don't... More

My husband and I enjoyed the tour. We learned a lot about the horse farms, horse racing and the history of the area. The highlight for us was stopping at a horse farm and seeing the horses up close, petting them and feeding them peppermints. I left a part of my heart in Lexington, Kentucky with a horse named College... More

My husband and I both really loved this tour. To be honest, he was not excited about going on a horse farm tour. We love all kinds of animals, but don't own a horse or know much about them. We loved our guide who was directly involved in a horse farm and breeding. We learned so much about the details... More
