We went on a Sunday for a little side trip after visiting the UK campus. Tastings cannot start until noon on Sundays, so since we were a little early we simply walked around the vineyard. My wife got some wonderful pictures. Talon is a small, welcoming vineyard in Kentucky farm country. Don't expect the California type vineyard. The staff was... More

The winery is located in beautiful farm country and it has a very welcoming feel. We went on a Sunday and there was live jazz and a picnic atmosphere. Everybody inside was quite nice and helpful and the wine was quite good. The wine tasting only cost 5 dollars and you got to sample 6 wines with generous servings. I... More

We visited Talon Winery and Vineyards. There were swarms of bees all around which made me a bit leery to go in for this visit, however we had driven a long while. We decided to take a chance and go in. We made it past the bees. Once inside we were greeted and directed to the tasting room. Unfortunately the... More

We went to an event in the "barn" at Talon. The wine was - well - Kentucky wine. Nice atmosphere and about what I expected. Service was nice and friendly.

Tastings here are in the smaller house like structure towards the back of the property. You'll drive and think you're going nowhere, but just keep driving and following the signs (the property is well marked) Tastings ran $5 for 6 (except for the Cab Sav. Reserve which counted as 2 of your tastings) or $1 per tasting. The couple next... More

This is a nice winery outside of Lexington. There is a bit of a drive off of the road. Go past the big barn which is used for events. You can taste 6 wines for $5. That should be plenty if you only taste dry or sweet. They have a nice selection (the Cab Reserve counts two by the way)... More

We absolutely love that Talon is doing the (free) weekend music on the patio! We went on a Friday, did a wine tasting, bought some wine & cheese and sat outside and listened to some great music with another couple. It was very relaxing and we will be back! The fact that you can bring your own 'picnic' makes this... More

The tasting bar was a stand-up affair, but you could sit outside as well. You could get 6 tastings for $5 - except the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve that counted for two. Oyster crackers were deployed in a T-shaped dish, which takes some dexterity. You could also get a wine- or beer-flavored herbed cheese with mini-pretzels if you ask. The restrooms... More

I'm assuming this is the same winery, but the local town our "Garmin" directed us to was Shelbyville. It is in a pretty area. Gift Shop, bathroom & tasting room were all very nice. The lady who assisted us was friendly & knowledgeable. The selection wasn't as numerous as some wineries I have visited, but I got a good dry... More

Enjoyed the cute winery, tasted six wines and ordered a few bottles of chardonnay. Nice staff. I would return to have a picnic on the grounds.
