We rode the Dixie Belle Riverboat on 10-11-2015.. It is across the road from The Shaker Village. It is where the Shakers loaded and unloaded their goods. The KY. river is the longest in state river in the U.S.A good cruise with limestone cliffs. The "High Bridge" is taller than the Empire State building..

We bought our tickets at the Shaker Village and drove down to the boat dock. Very pleasant drive down a country lane to access the dock. The crew were great with information about the development of the river, the paddle boat, the wildlife on the river bank etc It all made for a relaxing sail just over an hour in... More

Purchased tickets at Shaker Village and took the afternoon ride. You have to drive from Shaker Village to get to the boat. The road to the landing was very narrow and winding but beautiful. The one hour cruise was relaxing and beautiful. The guide was knowledgeable about wildlife, area history and the land. He was quick to point out turtles,... More

Our guide was very informative and had a great eye for critters along the river. Was a nice peaceful ride along the Kentucky river.

Purchased tickets at the Shaker Village booth 45 min prior to the 4 pm ride, then drove about 10 min to the boat dock. Warning -- road there is winding and only 1-lane in sections....just hoping that another car wasn't coming around the bend in the opposite direction. On the boat, we saw a freight train pass on the trestle... More

This one-hour cruise on the Kentucky River is fantastic and should definitely be done. We had a relaxing trip and it put us in a state of calm that is rare these days. The history lesson is also very entertaining and informative.

After walking around the Shaker village we decieded to go for the boat ride. This was an interesting part of KY as it was very remote and very quite. The Captain was a hoot and told some very good storyies for almost an hour. You were able to see the high bridge built by the railroad and the Palisades were... More

This is a very relaxing, one hour ride up the Kentucky River. Comfortable, interesting and the Captain is very knowledgeable. The Palisades are ancient and amazing. And, if you are lucky like we were, you will also get to see some of the wild life around the river. We brought a picnic lunch, and afterwards enjoyed our lunch beside the... More

The Shaker Village has partnered with a company for two daily trips along the Kentucky River. Departing from a dock below the Village, the Dixie Belle is a comfortable boat to explore the waters of a river that crosses most of the state. From tall ledges to green mesas to overhanging trees, the scenery provides a backdrop to a relaxing... More
