Yes, it's overcrowded, touristy, and a little tacky. And if you're looking for a nice sandy beach, this isn't it. It's a shingle, or pebble, beach. But I think other reviewers have covered all that well enough. What I dislike most about Cape May's Sunset Beach is that horrible hunk of junk known as the Concrete Ship. Looking at old... More

If you are looking for a relaxing day trip to a quaint NJ beach, this is it. Coming in you pass several farming areas offering roadside stands of produce. The beach has many pebbles. From what I understand, they are known for crystal like pebbles which are like uncut diamonds. There's also a historic site of a concrete ship built... More

It's a fun stop for both children and adults. Ideal parking, practically up to the beach, but no swimming. Very relaxing and beautiful sunset views. In season, flag raising and lowering is a tradition, with every day a new casket flag honoring those who lost their life to protecting us. This is not commercialism, it's sincere, honestly a touching tribute... More

great little spot we find early spring time around May and early fall around Oct to be the best time to go. since the summer is packed with people and nowhere to park.

Sunset Beach is a great place to collect Cape May "diamonds" and sit on the beach enjoying the bay. It's a peaceful place.

This is the first year we've actually come to this beach. Surf and wind are calmer than the city beach so that attracted us this year. Excellent place to see Dolphins close to shore. The beach combing in general is nicer here with the scenic backdrop of the dunes. Love it!

This is a public beach that is on the Delaware Bay. There is a mini golf, gift shop, and grille. There are some benches to sit on, but I recommend bringing your own chair. The sunsets are beautiful, and there is a lovely flag ceremony at sunset. There is a concrete ship that sticks out of the water, and supposedly,... More

Enjoy the back roads as you head to Cape May (Lower Twp) plenty to do and see. When you arrive at Sunset Beach be prepared for a VERY rocky beach. Your bare feet will take a beating! But it is dog friendly, no tags needed and the people were very nice. Make sure you search for Cape May Diamonds. There... More

Sunset Beach is the only beach we go to in Capy May. For countless reasons: no beach tags, dog-friendly, bathrooms and food closeby, entertaining - fishermen use the beach and entertain kids with their catches; collecting Cape May diamonds; the nightly, always moving flag-lowering ceremony; beautiful sunsets; the sunken concrete ship; the fossil and shell shop; dolphins swimming by. Be... More
