Great fun and certainly very beginner friendly. Water levels will impact the difficulty but rarely exceed beginner abilities.
I saw a review about a "not very outdoorsy" lady saying Canoe KY is not very "beginner friendly"....well...yeah, IDK...Ive taken my mom, aunts, 70some yr old ladies, they have capsized, we have all capsized, its part of the fun...heck if the ride is smooth, we intentionally capsized just to get on the water...smell like swamp? well, it aint caribbean beach... I'm not the outdoorsy type. I'm more of the museum type. But I went yesterday morning with my outdoorsy cousin, my mom and my boyfriend. My cousin and bf rode together fine since they both had canoed a few times before. I used to row for UofL years ago so I thought I could single handedly get us downstream no... More
Rhonda, Thanks for coming out and joining us on one of our busiest weekends ever! We had over 450 other customers on the water the day you were here. No one else had said anything to us about water conditions making it rougher than usual... but we do apologize for the wet experience! We are a VERY BEGINNER FRIENDLY CREEK... More
The owners of this retailer/outfitter are some of the best people you’ll ever meet. They truly care about their customers on and off the creek and will make you feel like family. The creek is a ton of fun and it will make for a memorable experience each time you paddle down it.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It is very touching. That is exactly why we do what we do! More
I've taken several trips on Elkhorn Creek and the experience was wonderful. It's easy, lots of fun, you can paddle or float, a d it's a wonderful experience. Take the family and have fun! Three trips in the summer of 2011
For over a year now I have been trying to run their "whitewater" section. They have given me one excuse after another every time I have attempted to go. Apparently Canoe Kentucky is completely insulated from the recession since they aren't interested in getting my business....or maybe its customer service like this that is the root cause of our nation's... John S., First, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nathan Depenbrock and I am one of the owners of Canoe Kentucky. Secondly, allow me to apologize for the misunderstanding that has taken place between our buisness and yourself. I want to let you know I mean that. I do feel, though, that a few things should be clarified.... More
First time with CanoeKY and it was a really good experience. The actual trip (we did the 1/2 day in July 2012) on the creek was a blast for me and my son. The creek was a great blend of minor rapids and slow water. The first reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 stars is that the staff... More
We are very happy that your on water experience was great! We want to let you know that we appreciate the comments on our staff... and know that it is an issue that we have dealt with. We work very hard here at Canoe Kentucky to make sure that we have the best customer service possible. We want our staff... More
We visited Canoe Kentucky on a Friday in May just as school let out (KY breaks early!) and really enjoyed the experience. We arrived a little later than was wise so we only had 2 hours on the water but that was just the right amount of time. We are a family of 5 with kids age 6, 8 &... More
We (two adults) visited Canoe Kentucky and did the 6 mile canoe trip on the Elkhorn Creek. We are relatively inexperienced boaters. There are different options available as far as trips and equipment. It was a busy holiday weekend with a lot of people on the water, however, as you get in the water everyone spreads out nicely. The water... More
Be sure to go when the water level is a bit up or you will be picking up your ride. Great places to stop and swim in the ole swimming holes. I prefer the rafts over the canoes and kayaks.
