I'm writing this review because it seems that three different caves are being incorrectly reviewed under this category of "Crystal Onyx Cave". #1 The actual "Crystal Onyx Cave" is closed. It is located on Prewitts Knob Road and has been purchased by new owners recently who say that the cave has been neglected and needs major updating before they can... More

This is a great place to go as a family. If you can avoid going when it is cold, or rainy you will have a much better opportunity to see all the animals. We only had one day, so had to take the semi-cold temps and a bit of rain. Cave is really pretty, and a nice short walk for... More

It was pouring rain the last day of our vacation and we didn't know what to do. We stumbled across the Onyx cave and for the money it was great. It was about minutes with about 6 people and a very knowledgeable tour guide. She loves the cave and you got to see things really close up! Kids loved it... More

Driving from Nashville to Chicago, we wanted to have a few local roadside experiences to justify driving vs flying. Mammoth Caves are highly promoted, but we didn't have time. Trip advisor pointed out Crystal Onyx Cave and it was all that reviewers said. Dramatic, colorful formations that you maneuver through with a guide that exuded passion and deep knowledge of... More

Touring Onyx Caves was a breathe of fresh air. We were greeted quickly and looked briefly in the gift shop before our tour began. Just the two of us (Myself and wife), and Missy weaved our way through the caves and the history of the formations. Missy has a passion for her work and it was a pleasure meeting her... More

We were passing by on our way home and decided to take a break. Tripadvisor reviews helped us decide on Onyx Cave. It was well worth the money and the kids enjoyed the tour (and the giftshop) very much! OK, the best part for them was the 3 lb bags of sand that you can buy, take outside and pan... More

It was a small cave, but a fantastic tour! This is a great cave to start with because you can see the difference between a "healthy" cave and an "unhealthy" cave. The tour guide had answers for every questions. The gift shop is great and the prices were very reasonable! The price of the tour was also a bonus.

This was the highlight of my vacation! I went to the mammoth caves the day before, and it does not compare. Our tour guide at the onyx caves was very informative knowledgeable, and enthusiastic that's what made the tour so much better. We were the only people on the tour so it was nice. Where as the mammoth caves, there... More

great little cave tour. Missy was our guide and she was very informative on the cave and how it was discovered. She is a very nice girl. They have a gift shop. There is a young man there that makes some of the jewelry. I bought matching earrings and bracelet. They are just beautiful.
