A gift to yourself, a night in the country quiet.

A magical time at Christmas with hundreds of luminaries lighting the walkways, hot chocolate and snow. Out in the country seeing the stars.

Just south of Kansas City in Overland Park is a quiet serene botanical garden. It is nicely laid out with different length walking paths with differing vegetation including a lily pad pond and bridge mirroring the original at Monet's gardens in France. A real surprise was a full life statue in bronze of Monet painting the bridge. A nice quiet... More

Not many people seem to know about the Arboretum, but it is a hidden gem in the Kansas City area. Our young girls enjoyed the small trails, play areas, gardens and train display. This is a great place for kids, adults looking for quiet walks or even photographers.

We love to take our dog on long walks, and the arboretum would be a great place to do so, but they severely limit areas in which a dog can be walked, even when on a lead.

I found out about the Overland Park Arboretum while checking out things to do in the Greater Kansas City area. It's located way to the south of Kansas City, at 179th St, not far to the west of the US 69 Freeway. This is a wooded area of Kansas, just a few miles from the famous Oregon and Santa Fe... More

This place is so beautiful and the staff is very friendly. There are different paths to take and all are interesting to see. Bring your camera and be sure to wander down the trails that aren't paved. A bottle of water, or two, is helpful in the August heat. Tuesday's are free but I was happy to support the arboretum... More

On a hot July day we walked and chatted with friends through the wooded paths. Some areas such as the Monet pond were quite lovely. I was hoping to see more native flowers and perhaps flowers in general. The paths and grounds are well maintained and the folks at the nature center bldg are very friendly and helpful. Not sure... Still a work in process, but really nicely done so far. Lots of ponds and waterfalls. Maintained very well. Great place for kids or adults.
